I’m getting the following message when I try and open many threads:

“Database Error: Unable to connect to your database. Your database appears to be turned off or the database connection settings in your config file are not correct. Please contact your hosting provider if the problem persists.”

Happening at home and work so can’t be the pc I’m using.
Any idea what that is about?

There’s another database...in your head.  Are its connection settings correct?  ;) Just kidding.

I was getting that for a while too.  It’s definitely a server-generated message.  I think the site is stable again, so you shouldn’t be getting it anymore.

Nah it’s still happening. I can only navigate by clicking on the names of the next threads at the bottom of each thread. Can’t get the main lists of threads. Sucks.

At least you were able to get into the site proper to follow threads. I couldn’t get in at all. And since that problem cleared up, I’ve been unable to access the site a couple more times. Any body else having that problem or is it just me, my computer and my gods-be-damned routers?

Just to let everyone know - these errors were happening because the site sits on the server I now lease from Softlayer along with all our other sites, and during this week I was getting MASSIVE traffic for a post I did about that Miss nevada and her party photos.  It was like a DOS attack only it was all real traffic!  Crazy.  I’m STILL getting 5000 uniques a day to that post.  The photos are fun and everything but they aren’t that hot!

Anyway, that’s the explanation.
