The BBC is apparently saying that 3 or 4 concussion bombs went off in some subway stations and a bus. That from the Today show, which is what the people at work had on.
Tube evacuations: At-a-glance
Emergency services have been called to three London Underground stations amid reports of “incidents”. The BBC News website is covering events as they unfold (all times in BST):
1342: Police respond to reports of an explosion on a bus in east London.
1340: Ken Livingstone, the mayor of London, cancels an engagement because of the incident on the Underground, a spokeswoman says.
1326: London Underground announces services suspended on three lines, Hammersmith & City, Victoria and Northern.
1321: Fire service says smoke seen coming from Warren Street Tube station.
1320: The pound sterling falls against other currencies as word of the incidents hits the markets. The index of leading shares on London’s stock exchange also falls.
1311: Incidents are reported at three London Underground stations - Oval, Warren Street and Shepherd’s Bush (Hammersmith and City Line). The stations are evacuated as emergency services respond.
Some British NBC expert just suggested that this might be a plot by Scotland Yard to catch terrorists. Even Matt Lauer kind of sluffed that off, and he’s a moron.
I don’t know if these bombs were ever designed to injure people, or just strike fear in the public that there are more lunatic asshats in London that can do more damage at any given time.
A question to the Brits on here:
If these terrorists are able to continuously set off bombs whenever/wherever they want, what will happen to the psyche of the people of London? Will they lose faith of the safety of the transpotation system? will they continue on and not let these people affect their daily lives? Perhaps a bit of both?
4 explosions, 2 un-detonated (just the detonator went off), possibly nail bombs. 1 arrest, 1 Manhunt underway, 1 casualty - minor.
Apparently they are currently examining the 2 unexploded devices, although it’s too early to tell the full implications.
That’s according to the news conference I’ve just watched.

Probably a bit of both, Livingstone has just said it’s not currently possible to put in place security measures that will stop it happening. I would imagine some people will continue as normal, some won’t, as is human nature.
London calling. No problem here it seems to have been a complete failure in regards to the bombs going off. These clowns stepped onto our transport system with the sole intention of taking many human lives. I am delighted to report that they have failed in their cowardly objectives. These buttheads looked ridiculous as their bombs failed to go off and ran like rabbits to escape the security forces and the passengers attempting to kick their behinds. Kind of sums them up doesent it, as soon as their bombs went ‘phut’ they ran for their lives like the cowards they are. So I say to those dumbass terrorists that they forget their appointment with the 72 virgins they were stupid enough to believe would be waiting for them in their so-called paradise and instead prepare to spend the rest of their miserable lives in our rat infested prisons. Oh and by the way I hope they throw away the key.

Not a Brit myself, but I’m pretty optimistic about the British people - they didn’t let the IRA intimidate them and they didn’t let the Nazis intimidate them - if anything, I think this is only going to serve to galvanize them against surrender - these aren’t French or Spanish we’re talking about here after all.
Something that I’m wondering about - the gent that was wounded - I saw a news report stating that police flooded to the hospital were he was taken, emphasis on ARMED police. I haven’t heard any more on him - anyone wonder if maybe he was a terrorist wounded by his own failed bomb?
As a Brit living in London I would say that 3 million people travel to work on London’s transport system. They are no going to suddenly start walking to work. We will just get on with it while being vigilant and with a ‘sod them’ attitude. Also let us offer credit to the tourists in London who are not intimidated into changing their travel plans. I saw some female American students today stating that yes they have to be aware of any potential danger but they would not be diverted from living their lives. Top marks to those ladies!
I think where ever you are in the world you just have to get on with it.

Damn right we won’t be intimidated, let the motherfuckers bring it on. We’ve seen it before, we’ll see it again, I’ll be going out my way to get a train to the City centre, if you let them change the way you live, they’ve won. I think the people in London are more used to it than the rest of England, they’ve dealt with it for years, but to a lesser extent, so have the people of other large cities, it ain’t new, and it ain’t intimidating. I just wish they’d realise that, it’ll only be a matter of time before we have another Gibralta situation, then they’ll really feel our wrath.

Damn right. Welcome aboard. Despite supporting the Arse.
