Abramovich is as dodgy as shit. Which is why Spurs possibly told him to fuck off before be bought Chelsea.

Poos for England. How embarrassing. I can just picture my English mates being devastated. I’m recording the replay now to watch when I get a chance. Sounded like a great game.

Congrats Kimpost. Nice work!!

In other football news, NZ beat Vanuatu 4-1 and look certain to the win the Oceania World Cup Group. Then we’ll play the 5th ranked Asian team for a place in the World Cup. I think we have the easiest route with the fewest games in the world. We still won’t make it though. Still, at least we won’t continue to always lose to Australia in the Oceania Group. We can lose to a different Asian team each time!

European Qualifying Groups for 2010 World Cup:

Group 1 Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Albania, Malta

Group 2 Greece, Israel, Switzerland, Moldova, Latvia, Luxembourg

Group 3 Czech Republic, Poland, NORTHERN IRELAND, Slovakia, Slovenia, San Marino

Group 4 Germany, Russia, Finland, WALES, Azerbaijan, Liechtenstein

Group 5 Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Armenia, Estonia

Group 6 Croatia, ENGLAND, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Andorra

Group 7 France, Romania, Serbia, Lithuania, Austria, Faroe Islands

Group 8 Italy, Bulgaria, Republic of Ireland, Cyprus, Georgia, Montenegro

Group 9 Holland, SCOTLAND, Norway, FYR Macedonia, Iceland

The winners of each European group will qualify for the finals automatically and the best eight runners-up play off for four more qualifying berths

Kimpost, that looks like a fairly tough group you’re in there, with Portugal and Denmark, and even Hungary might cause an upset or two.
Funny that England find themselves with Croatia so soon after last week’s disaster against them.

Well well well what a weekend.  My Red Devils secured the top spot, but only for a few hours.  I did see the Arsenal / Chelsea derby and as much as I want us to be in first, I relished the fact Chelsea were sent packing again.  No Drogba, and Terry went out early on hampered the Blues, but too bad Mr/ Grant, you’re no Jose.

I have been noticing the Blues are still playing their José Mourinho style of grinding out games and playing their physical, smashmouth style.  I still haven’t seen the “beautiful” part of the Blues game.  I Roman has been listening to too much David Lee Roth when he said, “My daddy always told me, “Son, its not whether you win or lose, its how good you look when you’re doing it.” Still waiting to see anything “beautiful” from Chelsea.

With Chelsea now 6 back and fading, does this thing become a two horse race again???

At least my other favorite team AC Milan, although not faring well this year (my other team AS Roma is at least doing well) picked up some hardware this weekend.  They completely dismantled the Argentinians.

Yeah good to see Arsenal win that one. Nice comparison between the two teams.
Being a Liverpool fan, I was obviously a little disappointed to see Man Utd win that one.
Spurs seem to have got their act together and won away at Portsmouth, which is a good effort.

And City :D

City has been a nice surprise this year.  SGE has really taken the team to the next level.  He made some nice off season additions and its paying off.  Its looks like Bianchi may gone after this season if they can land Diego Milito.

It looks like United will have a nice drawn for the Champions league.  The possibility of not having ot play another Englanish team, and not having to play AS Roma, leaves only a few suitors for United:

http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid={886D1A9B-5B97-4A8E-8AB1-944BF0847C7A}

Celtic - Gordon Strachan’s men are always tough to beat at Celtic Park
Olympiakos - Steady at home, the Greek champions are now dangerous away
Lyon - The French champions are unfancied but dangerous opponents
Fenerbahce - Turkish champions managed by Zico have never beaten United
Schalke - This would be the first time the Reds have faced the German outfit

I more fearful of Lyon than any other possibility.  They have a grind it out style and if they can slow the United midfielders and play a defenisve trap, it could cause United a TON of problems.  Schalke would be another interesting matchup since they are currently sitting near the top of the table in the Bundesliga and are playing some steady football right now.
