Well their excuse is the green line is light rail (I think what you call a tram over there), and there’s not enough room.  All the other lines are subway and commuter rail

Ahh right, we have a system called the Metro in Manchester, it’s a lightweight tram, and in fairness you wouldn’t get bikes on it. It’s a shame, because it’s really effective mass transit, and if people could use bikes, there’d be a lot less cars on the road.
I use it occasionally, and it is a lot better than buses or trains, it goes through the city centre, so you haven’t got to walk a mile after getting of the bus or train.

My new truck is a Dodge Dakota with a magnum V8 engine.  Turns out the V8 gets better mileage than the V6.

I’ve heard that’s the case, at least in the city.  Barring other technological advantages, a more powerful engine spends less time in the lower gears while accelerating, which is a lot of the time during city driving.

Sorry to hear about your Jeep.  I’m sure you’ll love the Dakota, though.  Some friends of mine love theirs.

I do love it so far.  It drives nice, and it’s convenient for everything.

Funny story about the Jeep, btw.  It’s at the dealership being repaired.  Well, according to the guys at the dealership, when the towing company from Detroit dropped it off, they just dragged it down onto the concrete, went inside and asked for their money.  The guy at the dealership told them it would have been nice for them to come in and let him know they were there before they dragged it off, so they could at least have put it on blocks.

So when I was at the dealership dropping off my keys, we were going over the insurance estimate, and some of the repairs the dealership obviously saw.  Well, I told them that the receiver had been stolen, and not the 10 disc cd player in the back.  He flipped the back seat open and guess what?  The cd player is gone.  The assholes at the towing place cleaned the rest of it out.

HO-LEE CRAP!  You weren’t only kicked while down, but by the people who came to help.  If you used AAA to find the towing company, definitely report them.  You may not get it back, but AAA won’t want to use them.

An old girlfriend once told me a story about when she had wrecked one night.  The police left with the tow truck after taking the report.  After they were gone the wrecker loaded up her car, then threatened to leave her there if she didn’t pay double in cash.

I’m glad you’re back on your feet.  Good luck with the insurance!

Unfortunately, I had nothing to do with the towing company.  The Detroit Police called them when my car was found.  The police just called me with their name, address and phone number.  I’m sure any recourse I tried to take would be pointless, and get me nowhere.

Luckily, yes.  The dealer is going to replace it and it will be covered under the insurance.

Bikes are on every rail line EXCEPT the green.

That’s ironic.  Not so “green” after all, eh?

According to the T, they say the reason it’s called the green line because it goes through the leafy-green affluent western suburbs.  They also have equally weak reasons for the other color choices- The ‘Orange’ line goes under Orange street, the Blue line goes under the Ocean (well, really Boston Harbor, but that doesn’t sound very blue  ).  The Red line goes to the People’s Republic of Cambridge.
