You knew it wouldn’t be long. . .but here is a short quip about the big “premier”. ACtually the whole film wasn’t previewed, just some choice clips at the Toronto Film Festival. Of course his ever present theme of comparing Canada’s health care system with other’s is one of the many themes explored. I still find it funny they list his hometown as Flint Michigan.
The one thing that did strike me as odd was this part of the article:
Moore also defended actor Tom Cruise and revealed a secret story about Mel Gibson.
Of the former, he said: “It’s time to stop picking on Tom Cruise. What is his crime? Jumping on a couch? Actors are supposed to different. They’re not accountants. His religion is own damn business, no matter what planet it’s from. He’s not firing rockets into Iraq.”
But the Gibson story was far more interesting. Moore says that right after the 2004 election he was told by Time Magazine that he and Gibson would share the Person of the Year award. They each agreed and were brought to Los Angeles for an interview and photograph. The whole thing was very hush hush. But on the day it was supposed to happen, Gibson suddenly backed out, and for no apparent reason.
“Something happened overnight,” Moore said. “You know he has a church on his property. He must have talked to God, and he said, “No f——in’ way you’re doing this.”
The result, Moore pointed out, was that George W. Bush was named Man of the Year. Talk about irony.
Something happened overnight? I seriously doubt it had anything to do with his religion. How ironic in that he defends Tom Cruise’s choice of religion, but then shortly thereafter beats up Mel Gibson for his. Too bad we’ve already seen this movie before.
Especially funny since Moore and Gibson share the same religion, and Moore once had aspirations to be a priest. “Gibson talking to God” is complete speculation on the part of Moore.
Poor Mel, now hes got the Pittster pitted against him:
While pulling a stupid face for photographers at the Toronto Film Festival, Brad joked: “That’s the picture that’s going to end up when I have a breakdown or something, when I get arrested for a DUI late at night, make racial slurs or something.”
Brad also revealed that since becoming a father he has decided to give more thought to which film roles he accepts, and insists he won’t let his three children see some of his past movies.
Brad - whose previous films include the ultra-violent ‘Fight Club’, psychological thriller ‘12 Monkeys’ and the disturbing ‘Se7en’ - explained: “Oh my God, what did I do? What are they gonna see? Films from the past, I start making that list and it’s like, ‘Oh’, It definitely colours what I’ll approach in the future. I’ll try to be a little bit more mature about my decisions.”

They share the same religion?
I don’t really agree with that. Gibson adheres militantly to a extreme fringe-type religous sect, while Moore professes to be of the Cathoic faith; while exhibiting signs that he follows his heart first and foremost, and not strictly adhering to dogma like a braindead kool-aid drinker. That is lieke saying that the Pope and Martin Luther share the same religion. Yes, they both believe in Jesus Christ being some kind of “saviour” or “messiah”; but they are at opposite ends of the same religion.

I find it funny how often you express your belief that we on the right love and admire Rove so much, even though we hardly ever summon the name, and yet here you are expressing your admiration for Moore essentially unprompted. And by “funny” I don’t mean the “Frasier” kind of funny, either. It’s more like the “watching-you-take-a-football-to-the-groin-on-America’s-Funniest-Videos” kind of funny.
