The doctors in Germany “work” about 3 full days a week. (Hasn’t gotten better, biafra)

Monday is open from 08:30 - 17:00,
Tuesday is by appointment and only after 12:00
Wednesday is primarily by appointment and only till 12:00
Thursday is 10:00 - 18:00
Friday is 09:00 - 16:00.

The drugstores (the only place to get any drug, over the counter or perscription) are open similar hours plus Saturday till 12:00.
There is an emergency (on call) Doc for the rest of the time but that works on some cryptic rotating schedule that is printed wrong in the weekly city newspaper (Amtsblatt) and the on-call Docs are scattered all over the region (one per day per region). Plus, the emergency rooms in the hospitals have doctors in the hospital primarily during the day (very similar to the schedule above). If you cut your leg off after 17:00, you may have to wait an hour or so until the doctor shows.

I’ll stick to taking a half day off just to secure some allergy medicine. Its all free, after all.
