Wooga, what’s that dream car? Is it the MG Concept?
The “MG XPower SV,” which seems like a retarded name to me.
I was once presented with the opportunity to buy either a dying money-pit MGA or a Chevy Cavalier. One of the worst decisions of my life was going with the chevy.
So I presume the MG is no longer available, given the recent collapse of Rover?
That’s the car that was up to 1000bhp isn’t it? It came in various guises, from about 400bhp upwards.
“Butch" isn’t a good thing for a car...unless it’s a car for lesbians.
Well yeah, I think that’s BMW’s target audience. The Z3 was always a girls car, the Z4 seems to be the same, only beefed up a little. So one can only assume BMW are after Ellen Degeners and KD Lang for their target audience.

Spoken like someone who has never had to work with Lucas electrics!
Yes. But the MGA could have run on flinstone power for all I care. It looked cool. The cavalier was ;-) (where’s a good smiley when you need one)
And in response Englander’s question, I suppose there might be a handful of the SVs already built for display purposes which are ready for purchase, but given the limited production run planned prior to the Rover collapse, I bet those were snapped up right away by collectors. The web site (mgxpowersv.com) says:
PRICES
The MG XPower SV is priced from £65,750. However, every XPOWER SV is individually built to its owner’s personal specification there’s a wide range of equipment choices so you can tailor the basic vehicle to your own requirements.
Yeah I don’t care about cars either. I’ve only owned a couple (a Ford Laser and a Nissan Pulsar). One replaced the other when it died. Sold the Pulsar in April 2002 and haven’t had a car since.
I drive a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. It has over 220,000 miles on it, but still gets from A to B reliably. I love those 4.0L Straight Six engines. I’m upgrading in about October or November to a newer Jeep Cherokee or Wrangler.

Yeah, I remember reading an article on it’s development, apparently it was upgradeable to 1000bhp, non-nitrous, twin turbo. It would do 0-60 in under 2.5 seconds. At that point it ceases to be a car and becomes a jet-missile with wheels.
The only other ‘production’ car I can think of with that sort of power is a tweaked Skyline, and they had 4wd, 1000bhp going through 2 wheels sounds terrifying.
A good buddy of mine has taken off to Europe for a few months and left me his car. As soon as I figure out how to post a pic, I will show you a snap shot or two…
It is a 2004 Lamborghini Murcielago, in titanium. I am scared driving this car, not because of it’s speed, because I can’t see in the damn thing.
I decided I need to build myself an electric car. Now, I don’t know anything about electricity, watts, amps, whatever. But dammit, I’m going to build one and it’s going to be better than those piece of crap hybrids that still get shitty gas mileage.

There’s a Lambo garage down the road from where I live, and I see ‘em out on test drives all the time. They are beautiful cars, but about as practical as a chocolate fireguard.
Could anybody realistically live with one? Apart from a few hours at weekend?
I certainly wouldn’t have one as a daily commute driver, and there are definitely cars in that price range that I like more, but if you’ve got the money…
I seriously wouldn’t want it. It is not easy to drive at all. The blind spots are huge, the clutch is heavy, and I am scared someone will bang it in a parking lot or I’ll scrape it backing out of the garage in my building.
My baby hauler is a 2000 Land Rover Discovery. There seem to be a lot of people who don’t like Land Rover but I love my car. When I got it, I had to give my 98 Jeep Wrangler to my husband. I hate that I don’t get to drive it very much any more but I’m glad that we got to keep it. And I can’t wait until Cole is a little big bigger so that we can take him out on some of the trails we like to go on in it.
And our other baby, a car that we would not be able to justify having at this point in our lives but we were lucky enough to win, a 2005 Mustang GT.

Don’t bet on it. My first car was a ‘76 MGB. I loved that car, but I never really got to drive it. It spent more time on the rack than the road. I bought it for $200, put about $1500 into overhauling it then over the next 9 months dropped another $1200 into repairs. I finally had enoug and sold the damn thing for $3200. It looked beautiful, but I couldn’t keep it on the road. Then I got the best car I have EVER owned, a 1982 Datsun/Nissan Sentra. That car survived so much abuse. I never changed the oil, drove it on a busted motor mount, taught 3 other people how to drive a stick shift and had nary a problem with it. It was a sad day when I totaled it. It had 197,000 miles on it at the time.
My old man collects and restores Triumphs. He has 3 TR7s and a TR3. Those damn British sports cars are a PAIN to keep running properly.
Currently I drive a 98 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition.

I know a guy who spent a £100,000 restoring a 1965 Aston Martin DB5. Why?
You can buy a 3 year old DB7 for £70,000. Old car restoration is a complete mystery to me.
