Then I got the best car I have EVER owned, a 1982 Datsun/Nissan Sentra. It had 197,000 miles on it at the time.
thats my kind of car. i managed to coax a 1984 ford escort station wagon to 170,000 miles. i retired it with a broomstick to hold the rear hatch up and front brake discs just above 1/8” thick.
My old man collects and restores Triumphs. He has 3 TR7s and a TR3. Those damn British sports cars are a PAIN to keep running properly.
I know a guy who spent a £100,000 restoring a 1965 Aston Martin DB5. Why?
You can buy a 3 year old DB7 for £70,000. Old car restoration is a complete mystery to me.
That does seem odd (paying that much).
I’ve spent much less restoring my old car than buying a new car… I’m probably well under $14k (car + parts). If anything I’ve seen it as a money saving move… I’ve traded my labor and effort to rebuilt a old car that had potential to be good rather than spending a lot on a brand new one....

The DB5 is pretty rare, they don’t really exist in mint condition, the car cost £40,000 and it was screwed, and he spent the remaining £60,000 sourcing original parts and rebuiding. The thing is, it’s a really, really shit drive and pretty damn slow. It’s only famous ‘cos of Bond. You can make ‘em decent, but it costs a lot to bring ‘em up to scratch, ie new engine, suspension, chassis mods etc. This fella restored it to original spec, which is like you say, odd.
Having said all that, aesthetically, it’s a stunning car. I guess you can’t put a price on that.
 I just had to listen to my husband try to explain why we need Foose rims for our Mustang.
I also have a 2005 Mustang GT. Silver
Ours is black with the red leather interior. Have you modified yours or is it stock? As well as the above-mentioned Foose rims, my husband is always telling me about exhausts and blowers and what not that he wants for our car. He has a hard time convincing me that we need to spend that kind of money on our vehicles.

Mine is silver with Black interior (I wanted the Black & Red but they were almost impossible to find). Mine is still stock as of now, but I have also been looking into “fixing it up a little bit”. I have looked into exhaust, turbos, a really nice body kit (the ‘Elanore’ body kit with the side exhaust), upgrading the stereo, etc. But all of that is quite expensive. If he ever does talk you into spending that kind of money on your car Vortech put one of their superchargers on an otherwise “stock” ‘05, and it ran 192 MPH in a standing mile. So for $37k you can have a car that will out run a Lamborghini (according to Car & Driver’s 200 MPH shoot out)
2002 Toyota Celica (non TS) black - is my wifes car
1994 Opel Astra with 250,000 Km and at least the last 60,000 on the same unchanged oil. It burns just about enough that I add 1 Qt (1L) per week, but it gets relativly good milage.
I ride a 1955 BMW R50, a 1977 BMW R100/7, and a 1984 BMW R100RT. Oh yeah, there is a 1992 Taurus in the garage with 122,000 miles on it when it gets too cold to ride. I usually ride well into December, until it gets below 30 degrees F. Also, a 2002 Pontiac Montana Mini-van.

We won our car last November and ordered it almost immediately. It was supposed to get to us by late December but I guess there were supplier issues with the red interior so we didn’t get it until the first week of March. I haven’t seen any other Mustangs around here with the red interior.
It will probably be awhile before he convinces me that we need to spend a bunch of money on the car. With a new baby and me not working anymore, it would be pretty hard to justify!
Tater...Well then don’t tell your husband about this. (I’ve already entered) He’ll go batty.
I’ve seen pics of the Foose Mustang but I didn’t realize that they were giving it away! That would be sweet if you won. I don’t think we have enough luck to win two Mustangs.
