It’s funny how you guys deviated the subject on women when I was talking about men! Do you have a problem talking about yourself?

Your whole premise seems to be based on men not being ‘real men’ because they don’t exert some inherent dominance and one of the examples you gave was that they should be putting women in their place. I think the rest of us in this thread are trying to point out that we’ve evolved to a point whereby we recognise that although men may be physically stronger on the whole, they don’t actually have an inherent right to be dominant over women in any way shape or form.

God you’re so obtuse!!! I am not talking about being dominant over women (my husband wouldn’t have a chance!), I am talking about protecting women, loving them etc. And again, you just focus on a small point. I talked more about the country, pride, kids etc. So what’s your problem???

Ok I’ve gone back and looked at your opening post.
I’ve tried to pick out the key sentences to try and get to the real points:

I came to America to go away from my country’s men’s apathy and their coward ness

I came to America because we think over there that men are real men, strong, patriotic, and ready to fight for their rights.

I look around and all I see is men talking about what they don’t like……………….but I haven’t seen man fighting so far

I have seen women taking over men because they allow it

I have seen teenagers feeding themselves mentally with….

There is no more boundaries, no more faith, no more families, no more respect.

there is no action against anything

am just hurt to see the big America going down the sink because most of you are scarred, this is not you, you are the “big dog” but it seems that you’ve lost your teeth and your voice lately!

Get up, go to each street corner and scream out of your lungs that you want your country back, your pride back, your respect back, gather, go public, go on TV and tell other men that they need to wake up, tell women to shut up and go back to where they should be, next to you, respecting and supporting you, tell your kids “I AM your father and You Will listen to me”, so they’ll have a chance to become men and women with pride.

my daily prayer is for you to rediscover what a proud American man is. Like I say, I love this country, do you?

It seems you feel that those who think differently to you are becoming the dominant force in American society, and that it’s up the men that agree with your politics to stand up and take the country back.  The bold parts seems to suggest that women are unable to do this ‘fighting’ to get the country back.

What exactly are these men meant to be protecting you against? What harm are these others (that are becoming the dominant force) inflicting on women?

Yeah, I guess I’m an example of what she’s run/gotten away from - foreign namby-pamby hippy notions of marital equality.
So, biafra, do you have the balls that Fifi refers to: do you ensure your wide knows her place, and that the kids know that she knows it?

Does your favorite football team have a captain? Is this necessary? Do you have a boss? Is this also necessary?

That reminds me of a joke I heard this morning: Vick may have gone to prison as a quarterback, but he’s likely to come out as a wide receiver.

As for your questions - yes, leadership in those situations is important. Having hierarchy is usually the only way it works because so many people are involved. I don’t see how you can compare those situations to a marriage, where there are two equal partners.

She is. And I don’t much care.  What she doesn’t give me a headache, which goes along way (unfortunately her dog does) .

I’m sure you’ll agree that she is not required to ‘know her place’ in order to avoid giving you a headache.

I think that you boys are missing FiFi’s point.

We, as the head of the “household”, need to recapture the leadership role that only we can do.

I think you two are missing the fact that you are relying on an underlying assumption that some of us don’t agree with - that the man is the head of the household. Who says that has to be the case, and makes anything any better?

Even if we did accept that underlying assumption, what does she propose we do, and what does she think it will achieve?

She pretty much chose her place. Changing it would change the dynamics of our relationship.

Well as you point out in your previous post, mostly I think we fall into positions (i.e. “you’re better at looking after the money so I don’t mind you doing that") and unless conflict arises it never really is an issue as to whether every single little thing is decided upon equally. In fact it would be impossible in practical terms for that to happen. Couples that work are ones that find their positions naturally and complement each other in that way. Any areas of disagreement or where both want to stamp their dominance or difference are the aspects that need to be actively worked on and accomodated. Yeah?

Somebody still has to be the boss.  There’s this contention that bossy husbands typically say “no” more often than “yes” when the question asked started with “Do you mind...?”

I don’t agree that someone has to be the boss. Overall that is. In certain situations one person will play to their strengths and the other will let them. But, personally at least, I don’t see any need or desire for one to be more dominant than the other.
