I’ve been reviewing this thread (I guess I missed it a while back), and a few things come to mind.
-Lance Armstrong said that he feels the thing that helped him beat cancer was information. Not internet info, but actual medical books and such. He said that it helped him to attack the disease in the most logical and effective way possible. For what it’s worth…
-My late Gram had a stroke at the age of 70 that left her mostly paralyzed on her right (and dominant) side and without the ability to say a lot of words. Fortunately her mind was, as her doctors said “sharp times three.” My Gram was a teacher her entire life, and due to some abuse by a teacher and a teacher’s aide, she taught me at home for most of my second grade. It was probably the best year of my life, all things considered, and I always said that I learned more from her that one year than all of my other years of education. But then I had to adjust to my Gram’s post-stroke condition and I had to really get to know her and her struggles. And her triumphs. And her strength. And that’s when the real lessons began.
-And I’ve saved the most important for last and because I think that this is where it fits. Rachael is a beautiful girl who has the look of someone who’s as happy as a person can possibly be. I can only hope to be filled with that much joy. Considering all that she’s been through and is going through and how she’s responding to it, you have much to be proud of. Her strength is an encouragement. Your family’s perseverance is admirable. You are blessed.
And you’re not the only guy looking forward to blue skies and green grass…
