Just like every other time this has come up, you’re being ridiculous.
You’re ignoring a lot of what others have posted and you’re putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.

Do you prefer wholly one-dimensional “thought” like r.j. by now posts ad nauseam? So far I’ve heard nothing from him but the same rote preaching and smug sermonizing I’ve been hearing for 30 years.

I guess its pretty handy come demo time when you’re painting a banner to admonish others to save your world.

Like the Krauts r.j. tells me I need to drive a smaller car, take public transportation, get a job closer to home, oh, and raise awareness.

So what do Krauts do in their free time? Go on vacation, get drunk, urinate in public, drive around in fast plastic cars on highways without speed limits, beeping at, high-beaming, tailgating and flipping off all and any Arschloch (asshole) who dares come in their way at 200 km/h because, hey, they’ve readily earned it, they’ve done their part to save the earth by telling me I lack culture.

If I make like a good German and also vote for free healthcare.  can I in turn move to abolish the speed limit in the US and call everyone else idiots?

I do no such thing.  Most of the stuff I write on this site is diagnostic, not prescriptive.  I just write about how I see that things are, not necessarily what we should do about them.  So, I might say that the planet is warming, we’re in an energy crisis, the US economy is fucked… but I don’t have particularly strong views about how we should react to them and I don’t tell people how to live.  What actually happens is that everyone here “infers” that I am telling them how to live, because their thinking is conditioned to associate the identification of a particular problem with the prescription of a particular cure.  ("r.j. believe is climate change, therefore he is pushing some leftwing agenda)

And you’re one to talk about ad nauseum sermonising.  What I find is that if I read through a thread and start skipping posts I quickly lose the thread (as it were) of where the conservation is going.  Except with you, Jabba, of course.  I can skip all of your talk-loudly-to-yourself, guerilla-graffiti rants and the rest of the thread still makes sense.  In fact probably more sense.

I actually thought that this same attitude thing driving home last night. On the radio they were talking about lake levels (we rely on hydo for power). Advice is that if we can all cut down a bit now, that’ll make sure we’re alright later in the winter (if there is less rain than usual/anticipated). My initial reaction was ‘yeah, fair enough, good on them’ but then I thought about how that how some Moorewatch posters would react to being ‘told what to do’ by nanny state. I suspect it would be as you suggest. But to me, why not mention savings to people. My attitude wasn’t that they were telling me what to do. Those who feel like doing it will do it and it may be enough to make the difference.
In the meantime of course we should be ensuring security of supply by not having to rely on hydro, but that’s another argument, and part of the problem is that one backup station is not operational because they are removing asbestos).

And the “they” who are behind the call for people to cut back are actually businesses, because they don’t want blackouts later in the year.

Well they might be doing it too (or in conjunction with) but I heard it from Transpower.

Water in a river is not the same as telling us we can’t just buy more coal or oil.... There is only so much water and it has effects on other things… being water. There are few similar arguments when it comes to coal or oil… hence the need to push GW in order for you nanny starters to have an in for controlling our behavior…

There is no conversation.  You’re one of those many people who just love to hear themselves recite what they think is brilliant, original thought, but I’ve been hearing for 44 years now. 60’s song lyrics verify that “We’re on the Eve of Destruction”
I can politely argue against you, I can mock you, I can imitate you by reposting the same old shit you do page oeafter page after page, still you dither on as if you’ve been there, done that, and now its your duty as a scholar to lead us into the light, which is a 5 watt bulb at best.

But, hey, it needs less electricity… unlike Americans and their 200 bulbs…

You’ve readily proven that talk is cheap. So cmon, don’t be modest, toot your horn a bit, show us some of the many badass things you’ve accomplished. That could inspire us to follow your lead. I bet you got the greenest fitreps too. Lowest water bill, smallest car, ideal weight, most modest income, highest charitable contributions.

Hey, I’m still on sick leave, I could try and emulate you and Michael Moore. Whancha give me all your personal stats, and I’ll cruise the Web for ways for you to be as green as possible - find you a job even closer to home, get you cheaper train tickets, coupons for cheaper generic foods, remind you to change them ilters, drop you a video showing how you can wipe your anus with all of 2 sheets of toilet paper, or even nobler, do it like the Muslims and first wipe your butt with your hand and then wash the hand with water (no worries, we’ll use rainwater), also monitor that your clothing is not made in 3rd world sweathops by children - the list is endless.

I’ll e-mail you with suggestions and reminders, but also via snail mail (on 100% recycled stock, natch) and even telll a few of my buddies about your sins so they too can support you in your quest to be 100% green.

I’ll tally up the savings and spend the monetary equivalent on a vacation in Mexico.

Understand that if you delcine you’re, by your own definiton, a wasteful imperialist American.

Why don’t you answer just for once one question plain and straight? I just asked you a question. Its well beyond ironic that your personal quote reads:

“Other rappers dis me, say my rhymes are sissy.  Why?  Why?  Be more constructive with your feedback”

All you know how to do is strum a one-stringed ukelele and call it music. You do a rote monologue so I do rote a monologue, but this tidbit goes right over your swollen head. What you do feel compelled to point out for all admire to is that yours is better than mine, as proven by the many “responses” you get

As for me, I’ll don work clothes and insulate my house to save energy, while you don harlequin face paint to the global warming screechathon and burn an American flag to the accolades of the stupid prole masses. Hey, you got the all the attention = makes you the better person, according to yourself, and your stupid prole masses.

Cretins.

I think the difference is that you rant and I argue.  One characteristic of argument is that you tend to back it up with a confident tone which implies “i’m right and your wrong”.  So if you’re getting that feeling from me, good.  What do you want me say, “gee, I’m not that bright, but I had an idea, it’s probably wrong, I’m sure you will all correct me if it is, but here goes anyway”.  Why else argue?  Everyone here does it.  Except you.  You don’t criticise my arguments, you criticise my tone with your dismissive, arrogant, I-know-your-type bullshit.  What’s hilarious about that is that your mockery is always so far off the mark it’s not funny.  You’re satirising points-of-view which I don’t even hold.

EDIT: And by the way, you didn’t ask me a question - so how can I answer it?

You’re 100% right as always. Not a single other person here noted that you ramble on obtusely, waffle, hem and haw, then lastly resort to farting in the general direction of us dimwits. Talk about being dismissive.

I’ve mentioned this before, but at 13 I was educated your exact type you that the US had 52 states, and I was an arrogant idiot to claim we had only 50. Typical American. 31 years later I come to find that a few of these very types don clown costumes and fart in the general direction of German cops. Their entire lives dedicated to The Cause. Makes me wonder what are you going to do when you grow up (before you grow old).

Of course if you only know how to plink a one-stringed ukelele, this is off-topic, and Tiny Tim looks a noodler on his.

And I’ve also said this before, that it if something smells like shit, looks like shit, looks like shit, etc. its probably shit. When you’ve been repeatedly exposed to shit long enough, the word “shit” is understood. Its not “bitter ranting” on my part; I just expected you’d know the definition of shit by now, without 15 pages of “nuance” and “discourse”.

Dude, you’re posts are about as engaging and compelling to read as the legal disclaimers on the back of a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Dude, you may have recently had your head opened, but that doesn’t give you permission to be an a$$hole.  Why would I give my personal information to someone I don’t like and who doesn’t like me?  I will say that I’ve never donned face paint or plucked a ukelele, I don’t belong to any political organisation and I’ve never protested anything political in my life.  So once again, you’ve mischaracterised me.  Never mind, I’m sure you’ll tell me exactly who I am, and what I believe and what I do in my spare time.  I’d be terribly offended by your ranting if your portrait of me hit close to home, but it doesn’t, so I’m not.

As for being “nuanced”, I find if I don’t put my case specifically then I’ll get attacked by some of the others here.  They’ll tear a weak argument to shreds and that’s just fine by me.  So pardon me if I continue to try and raise my standards to argue with those who have some class like Crichton and Sl0re and LD, rather than lower my standards and become another ILA/Biafra.  If that bores you, fine, don’t read me.  It’ll do us both a favour.  Besides, I skip most of yours.

Indulge me here for a sec. You keep saying that you, the outside world, as such, would be pals with us - if only we’d do as you bid.

I’ve also mentioned this here before:  I learned to speak fluent German within a year after moving to Germany, not because I wanted to be “liked”,sadly, but because people who sound exactly like you, oft with a few lackeys in tow, would follow me around and chide my lack of culture, ignorance and war-mongering ways.

“Hey, Ami (gringo), how many States does the US have?”

“50.” Word had quickly gotten around that I’d dared correct a Kraut schoolmate who knew better.

“Hahaha! See how stupid Amis are? The US has 52, dummy. Hahaha!”

Once auto-Germanized, I still heard the second-hand jabber of up-and-coming Greens talking amongst themselves how smart they were and everyone else needed to get a clue, grow a brain, learn to think, etc. but I was no longer forced to pound the snot out of any of them who attempted to actually show how superior they were to Amis.

Arrived at a new school, there was one loudmouth in my class who started to feel me out, to see if I was one of the good guys, namely a Green. German was good, Green was better. So I began leading him on, cussing Amis as stupid and vulgar.

One day when I was sitting around with 5-6 of his fellow Thinkers I led us to the subject of how many states the US has, and sure enough, its “52” all around. So I produced a German map of the US and asked the boss to count them up. They didn’t add up to 52. There was some discussion over what Washington DC was, but it was concluded that the map was probably wrong.

So I pulled out my US passport and said “Guys, the map is right. You’re wrong.”

The good people were stunned into wide-eyed silence. Then they started cussing me out: “SOB! biafra is an Ami! biafra is a fake. A damn liar. What a fraud. The maps probably a forgery! Mofo! Its way over 50 if you count all the countries the US occupies!” Nevermind the US still only has 50 states. Nevermind I was a German, too. Yep.

I then pulled out my German passport, which shut them up again. How could a fellow German be a traitor? They regained their composure more quickly: “Big fucking deal. So fucking what. You’re a fucking Ami. They should take your German passport away. Its probably a forgery, too.”

Next thing you know, the peace and lovebirds want to punish me for my being such a - you know - Ami, but that hurt them far more than it did me.

Thing is, I had quite a few German friends and relationships in my 15 years overseas and am still in contact with many of them even after 16 years of separation. I managed to find some dim idiots there, eh. I could divulge that some of them aren’t happy living over there, having mid-life crises, etc. despite all the free vacation, govt freebies, but only a fucking Ami would make fun of them like that. Lets concentrate on their high gas prices and who’s to blame.

The only time Amis were briefly considered mildly chic (see “Miami Vice") was when “popper” (yuppie) fashion was “in” and the masses took to ridiculing anyone who didn’t wear designer duds, drive decked-out Golf Gtis, or put mirrors, halogen lights, and marble in ther homes. Now they’re back to being earth children with the same ole gusto.

So lets get back to you. Even if you indeed have no party affiliation, what you say here is too often “Well, even if its not 52, its 52, because pretty everyone says its 52, and thats why 52 is right.” If you wanted me to be your “buddy” you’d have to distance yourself from the noble (m)asses. There’s even a German saying “Das Volk ist gut - die Massen sind dumm” i.e.  “People are good - the masses are stupid”.

I forgot to send a private e-mail to another “number 50” here at Moorewatch predicting that you’d conveniently give me shit about disclosing your private data. Heres an easy one. The biggest, most expensive car I’ve ever owned was a “Fiat Uno 75 i.e.” I bought new in ‘89 similar to this, 4-door, fuel injected, 75 hp:

You drive anything bigger? Because if you do, the very global consensus you adhere to in fact allows me to call you an arrogant, wasteful, ozone-depleting asshole, ignorant of pique oil and the ozone.  An honorary Ami. Sorry, thems the rules. It might behoove you to let us all practice ‘em as you preach ‘em.

I will say that I’ve never donned face paint or plucked a ukelele

Nah. Never. You just plinked the ukelele again. But nah…

Dude, you may have recently had your head opened

Yeah, I even made a brand new avatar just now to reflect that, right, everyone? But hey, you’re the boss… I’ll change it to a pinhead.

that doesn’t give you permission to be an a$$hole

Having a swollen head obviously gives one permission to be the boss here.

So what, should I leave Moorewatch? So the grown-ups can get back to real intricate deep debate, dialoging to build bridges, forge alliances, averting the otherwise inevitable end of the earth Made in USA? Should I perhaps just read along, be silent and learn how people from other countries feel, think and see? I feel envy coming on.

As luck would have it, a buddy of mine recently left his acoustic guitar for me to play around on. Lemme learn to play “Kamptown Races” on one string.

What do noble poets fear? Pique oil, pique oil.
What makes all their water boil? Damn that old pique oil.
Global warming, is the next worst thing.
If you ignore the killing
of children, earth and soil.

Who is gon-na ruin the world? Amis, Amis…

My soul smells like a dead pigeon after three weeks,
I shut my window and go to sleep.
In my dream, I eat corn with my eyes.
