I’m glad the Liberals are gone but I don’t see a ton of difference with any other party. Anyway, fuck you, Moore, and stay out of my country (while it still is my country).
I recently purchased the book, “Do As I Say (and Not As I Do)”. What an eye-opener, not that I expected anything completely different.

Im happy this version of the Liberal govt is out.  Paul Martin will step down as party leader.  This is a good thing.  A minority govt will mean all sides will have to work together.  Again, this is a good thing.

And actually guys, this may be the first time MM has got it right.  He was saying he thought it would be a mistake to give Stephan Harper a majority govt.  I think even he realized the Liberal party was done.

Anyway, fuck you, Moore, and stay out of my country (while it still is my country).

Your country?  Didnt you move out of Canada because its way too dangerous here???  :)

Interesting that the issue of ‘whose country is it anyway’ should continue to come up. According to the Bloc Quebecois ads that ran over the last weekend it sure as hell doesn’t have any room for anyone from Alberta. One of their last attack ads attempted to scare voters away from Steve Harper because he was from Calgary. I guess it’s okay that my country has been run into the ground by four decaes of Prime Ministers from Quebec, no others need apply.

Buzz Hargrove (big time Union a**hole) as he was campaigning with Paul Martin (!) also made it clear that Harper’s roots in Alberta made him unsuitable.

To our friends from south of the 49th, what if you had a succession of Presidents from New York state, someone from Texas ran against one of them in an election, and the ads against him were that people from Texas should not be allowed to govern. Would that be allowed to stand?

Hells no.  That’s just ridiculous, especially in a modern world where everyone moves around all the time.

Canada has a lot more going on politically than most of the U.S. knows about.  It can get pretty vicious.

Yeah, I did move out because the country is too dangerous and useless. You can thank the (l)Liberals for that.

No, Up4 that is not what M Mooron was saying AT ALL.

Read this again;

These are no ordinary times, and as you go to the polls on Monday, you do so while a man running the nation to the south of you is hoping you can lend him a hand by picking Stephen Harper because he’s a man who shares his world view.

What fat Mooron is actually telling us is that people on the right or Conservatives like Harper are all evil people,
and that they are all willing to help each other (or at least help the Lord of all things evil; Bush) in doing more evil things - even if it means selling their own country.

Do you want to help George Bush by turning Canada into his latest conquest?

What fat Mooron is actually telling us is that a Conservative Prime Minister would surrender control of Canada to Bush in a Calgary minute.

Is that how you want millions of us down here to see you from now on? The next notch in the cowboy belt? C’mon, where’s your Canadian pride?

What fat Mooron is actually telling us is that it is shameful to vote for the man that will give away Canada to Bush ( and maybe also sell his two children if Bush throws in a Cowboy hat in the deal, because Conservatives are known for eating children alive - so evil they are.)

I mean, if you’re going to reduce Canada to a cheap download of Bush & Co.,

What fat Mooron is actually telling us is that a Conservative Prime Minister would turn Canada into a cheap version of the USA, and since fat Mooron hates the USA more than Al Qaeda members hate the USA, this would be a bad thing - anything American is BAD.

But seriously, I know you’re not going to elect a guy who should really be running for governor of Utah. Whew!

What fat Mooron is actually telling us is his contempt for something American - the State of Utah and the people who live in it - and that a Canadian Conservative is only fit to govern a place he despises; He is insulting both our Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the people of Utah.

Fat Mooron says “ you’re not going to elect “ he does not care if it’s “minority” or “majority”, he just does not want to see a Conservative elected.

The only reason fat Mooron included the word “majority” was because he knew people like you up4 would fall in that trap, and proclaim fat Mooron a genius for having been so wise for being able to predict the future of Canadian elections.

But most experts either predicted a minority or had serious doubts about a majority Conservative win.

Fat Mooron was right about “majority” not happening just a tiny bit more than he was right at predicting it would happen on a Monday.

JimK,

Maybe I can surprise you with another fact about Canadian politics…

Did you know that last evening, in west Canada, TV screens went blank for a while with this message ;

“ This program has been blacked out, please select another station “

You see in Canada, it is illegal to transmit poll results from the east to the west until a certain time in the evening, in case that would influence people who have not voted yet because of the time difference…

last year some blogger was fined $1000 for doing just that.

Yep in Canada, I’m not making this up.

Blacked out TV screens sounds a lot like something out of communist Russia doesn’t it?

No, Up4 that is not what M Mooron was saying AT ALL.

Fine, he didnt say anything about Harper getting a majority government.  He did, and that is basically the whole reason behind his letter, but maybe it makes it all better if I just say he didnt!  Hey, this kool-aid is not bad!

The only reason fat Mooron included the word “majority” was because he knew people like you up4 would fall in that trap, and proclaim fat Mooron a genius for having been so wise for being able to predict the future of Canadian elections.

LOL.  Okay, so, you think I believe Moore is a genius because he stated his opinion against what pretty much everyone thought was a very remote possibility (a Conservative majority)?  You havent read my other posts then.

What fat Mooron is actually telling us is that ...
What fat Mooron is actually telling us is that ...

Thanks, Id hate to have to think for myself.

What I still dont understand is what about the election he was wrong about?  I read through your whole post a couple of times, and didnt see it.  A little help?

Yeah, I did move out because the country is too dangerous and useless.

Ok, can I get an opinion here from any other Canadians?  Is Canada really too dangerous a country to live in, that is seems reasonable that people would be moving out?

Posted by Ferdy McFarquar  on  01/25/2006  at  12:18 AM (Link to this comment | )

Too dangerous? Nope, not really any more or less so than the US given equivalent city populations.

Is it too goddamn frustrating having spent the entirity of my adult life being told by the national (read central Canadian, elite) media to sit down and shut up because I am from Alberta (but keep those tax dollars coming)? Yep, sure is. Hey it’s not just that we aren’t ‘invited to the party’ as far as participating in any policy discussions, it’s that you keep throwing rocks at us to chase us off.

The election of a minority Conservative government has just postponed the inevitable. We were pretty much ready to walk if we were still being shut out. I doubt that the demonization of conservatives and Westerners has stopped; in fact watch for things to get truly ugly under these new conditions.

Ive been curious about this.  Who is it that hates Westerners?

Buzz Hargrove, Giles Duceppe, The Toronto Star, Jean Chretien, the CBC, ..... just off the top of my head.

Are you old enough to remeber the Conservative ad against Jean Chretien that pointed out that he was yet another in a long string of Quebec politicians? The national media squealed like stuck pigs; it was the top of the news for a week and roundly denounced by anyone within spitting distance of a microphone.

The Bloc runs an even more insulting ad and it got limited play; a small story buried deep in most newspapers if at all.

Buzz Hargrove, while campaigning with Paul Martin, comes out and says that Stephen Harper doesn’t hold Canadian values because he comes from Calgary.

Personal experience: I received an email at our “Careers” address from a person in Ontario asking whether his friend could get a job in Alberta. The problem? His friend is black! To quote a Lieberal attack ad, I am not making this up.

Get your heads out of your asses people!!!!

It is always astounding the degree to which Ontarians seem to buy into the bullsh*t they are fed about Albertans when damn few have ever lived here.

I received an email at our “Careers” address from a person in Ontario asking whether his friend could get a job in Alberta.

Well, if you only accept email from white people, what do you expect???  :)

Well, I hope you dont really takes those examples as how most Ontarians really feel about the west.  I dont read the Star, so I dont know the content as well as you.  The CBC is only good for HNIC.  Buzz has his own agenda, obviously.  He needs to keep Canadian autoworker jobs.  He would say anything to stop Harper (including encouraging Quebecers to vote for the Bloc!).

Chretian, well, another example of too many politicians coming out of Quebec.

Giles Duceppe ... youre joking right?  Id be proud to have him say something bad about me!

Posted by relaxitsjustme  on  01/25/2006  at  09:29 AM (Link to this comment | )

Even Sir Wilfred Laurier, the first French-Canadian prime minister, said: do not elect a French-Canadian to be prime minsiter. He doesn’t understand the rest of the country. Indeed, Trudeau and Chretien not only didn’t understand Canada but completely ignored it for their own ends.
I agree with Fergie- the demonisation of Western Canada and Conservatives will not stop. Fear and irrationality have been political tools since the ‘60’s. “The West is bad.” “Consevatives will take away your freedoms.” We have no freedom, thanks to the Liberals, and western Canada is keeping the country standing. Remember- Alberta is the only province NOT in debt and the oil sands may very well solve the fuel crisis in North America (if the Chinese don’t get to it, that is- check the Liberal tendency to do with business with the world’s worst human-rights abusers and polluters).

Up4 and relax....

Thanks for the reassurance that things aren’t as bleak as they may seem. God forbid I should know less about people who live in Ontario than what people who live in Ontario might know about Albertans (would use ‘rolls eyes’ smiley if I knew how to insert it).

I think I will officially withdraw from this thread now. Not only did I catch myself going off on a bit of a rant there, but I sometimes forget that Canadian issues are not nearly as interesting to our friends to the South.
