Desperate Democrats adopting Moore style tactics
Well, they didn’t get a bounce from their convention, so in their desperation, the Democrats have decided to “Be like Mike.” No not Jordan,....... Moore. And no, not by gaining 150 pounds and growing a scruffy beard. They’ve decided to “Expose the lies of President Bush” with wit and video!
And the article reads:
Democrats Roll Out ‘Bush Truth Squad’
By CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press WriterWASHINGTON - Democrats rolled out a “Bush truth squad” Tuesday to state the facts as they see them and challenge the president’s assertions at every turn of the campaign. Nearly 20 members of Congress, a retired general supporting John Kerry and other partisans joined in a pledge to “tell the whole truth” when President Bush doesn’t.
This is a page right out of Moore’s playbook. Pretending to tell the “rest of the story”. Yeah, right. With the apparent affect Moore has had on the left wingy base, and the apparent lack of affect Kerry had on the rest of the base it seems to me that the Dems are willing to go down that deceptive road that Moore has been paving for ten years now. Whatever it takes, right??
The facts they brought forward at their launch, however, were selective.
Oh really? Who would have guessed??? Let’s look at some quotes from these so-called truth seekers.
Rep. Dick Gephardt of Missouri- “For George Bush, the truth hurts,”
He accused the president of demeaning Kerry’s record in Congress and misrepresenting the reality on jobs, health care, the deficit and more.Texas Rep. Ciro Rodriguez , chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus-
Bush “says one thing and does another,” “He’s not been a person of his word.”Retired Gen. Merrill A. McPeak-
said he wants to hold Bush accountable for his record in the Iraq and terrorism wars, including the president’s “premature claims of mission accomplished” in Iraq.Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee - “Truth is on our side.”
Pretty damning stuff huh? “The President is a liar”. Wow, that’s damning indeed!
The squad’s case against Bush included a “Tale of Two Lives” video juxtaposing flattering statements and pictures of Kerry’s past with a Bush history sprinkled with phrases such as, “Avoids Vietnam,” “Absent from Duty,” “Is Investigated for Insider Trading.”
Also in the video is Bush’s dirty little secret: He once lost a congressional race!!!*gasp*, Oh wait, false alarm , Kerry did too.
Asked how that conveys “the whole truth,” DNC spokesman Jano Cabrera said, “the whole truth is in the backup,” meaning supporting papers that viewers don’t see. The background papers acknowledge Kerry narrowly lost a 1972 race for Congress.
Oh, I see. The “rest of the story” is hidden from the viewer. Where have I heard this before? Perhaps they saw the effectiveness of only including half of Condi Rice’s quote in Moore’s movie. Shameful.
Oh, wait, let’s not forget Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, chairman of the Congressional Black who:
issued an indictment of Bush’s economic record at the squad’s news conference but didn’t have all his numbers right. He blamed Bush for losing 3 million jobs. Although jobs in the manufacturing sector are down by about 2.7 million since Bush took office, employment overall has fallen by 1.1 million in Bush’s time.
How about that? The “Truth Squad” goes out and hold it’s very first press conference, and almost as soon as they begin to speak, lies start oozing out of thier mouths like saliva at a dentist’s office. To top it off, they even release Fahrenheit 9-11 Part II: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO (aka “a tale of two lives) How droll.
When are these guys going to learn that Moore’s work is only good for one thing: Making Moore rich. They’re only going to drive away the moderates with this Moore style tactic. This kind of thing could ruin them.
But then again, who am I to stop them ?
