Hi Michael!

This is a letter to Michael Moore. (Since I now know you or your staff is monitoring this site.)

Dear Michael,

A few months ago, I wrote a post accusing you of conspiring to commit voter fraud. I noted that you were encouraging your readers to offer free beer or sex to first time voters, as a reward for registering. This by the way, by all accounts is illegal, and a offense punishable by jail or fine. You even had your readers sign up to take a pledge to join you in this endeavor. I know the FEC has received a formal complaint about this from one of our readers. (But why am I telling you that, I’m betting you’re aware of that already.)

I wrote, in part;

Michael Moore is actively conspiring with his fans to commit voter fraud because winning this “battle” is more important to him than anything. He’ll do what ever it takes, lying in his books to sway voters, distorting the facts in his movie to sway voters, and even risking 5 years in a Federal penitentiary to sway voters, just to see George Bush defeated.

At the time I wrote that , I wondered, Does Michael Moore know who we are?

Then today, I got this story e-mailed to me. (Thanks Wallysaid)

from the Detriot Free Press:

Moore, a Flint native and Oscar-winning documentary maker, spoke to about 2,000 people Tuesday at the University of Michigan-Dearborn in an appearance designed to pump up voter turnout among young people and tear down the Bush presidency. He gave away free underwear and noodle packages to first-time voters after he criticized Bush’s motives and conduct of the war in Iraq, as he does in his recent film, “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

Moore asked first-time voters to come forward, saying his tour was designed to push nonvoters off the couch and into the voting booth. About a dozen people came forward. The women got Ramen noodles; new male voters got packs of free underwear.

This stunt is an obvious reaction to that article, which begs the question:

Dude, where’s your sense of creativity? Do you not think we can see through a typical Moore stunt when we see one? Do you not realize that we are smart enough to see that you are trying to bait us into making a big stink about this again so you can ridicule us for complaining about Ramen noodles and Underwear? Try again, Dude.

I realize you have thought through the technicalities of your latest stunt, and the fact that the folks you gave the “gifts” to were already registered to vote. And I also realize that you picked the most absurd and innocuous gift you could think of, so WE would look more ridiculous when we complained about it. Well guess what Moore, it took me a while but I am one step ahead of you now. It won’t belong before I can predict your stunts even before you pull them.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello, since now I know you are a reader, perhaps this stunt was simply an acknowlegement of that in your own silly way. But if you think you could slip this one in and trick me, you have failed. By the way, Sorry to hear about George Mason University deciding not to pay you $40,000.00 in taxpayer money to speak to the students. That’s gotta sting a little bit. I’ll try to throw some positive thoughts your way as I’m walking through Fairfax tommorow.
