Oscar Predictions
Jim and I made a friendly wager on the phone the other night, and have agreed to make the bet in public. I believe that not only will F9/11 get nominated for Best Picture, it will also win. Jim disagrees. I will let him post his own opinion here, but suffice it to say that he is of the opposite opinion. May the best man win.

Yeah, I think Lee’s been huffing paint thinner again. No way will such a technically terrible film win Best Picture. Forget content. This movie looks like a film student project. It’s meandering, has no real thread save for the common theme of “I hate Bush,” and is made up mostly of videotaped news footage. It’s just not Best Picture material, even if the whole country hated Bush with a united force of hate equal to that applied to a park bench when Moore takes a seat.
It’s a technically flawed piece of movie-making, blatantly so. Divorcing content completely, if I LOVED Michael Moore, I would have to be honest and say this movie isn’t good enough to compete with *any* film that has buzz around it for Best Picture. And not even Hollywood is so far gone that they’ll award it based solely on the fact that it is a campaign piece that hates the president.
And then there’s the fact that it won’t happen until long after the election is over. Kerry wins...maybe it gets submitted, but not nominated. Bush wins? It’s an embarrassment to those who would laud its praises.
Lee, put down the paint thinner and step away from the keyboard. ;)
