Manufacturing Dissent - Uncovering Michael Moore

Shameless self-promotion break from the presidential campaign nonsense

Posted by yngcelt on 05/05/08 at 12:43 PM

Just when you thought it was safe to go into the jungle!

Aloha everyone!  I haven’t posted in a while here as there didn’t seem to be much going on with Moore except his kiss-of-death proclamation of support for Obama in the democrat race to the DNC.  I don’t know about the rest of you but I am pretty much done with watching the news for now.  It’s the same old same old: gas prices are up and keep going up, housing market is out of control and nobody can afford to buy a house, the war is still going on, celebrities are sexually harassing people, cults are molesting children, the democrats can’t get their shit together, etc., etc.
So I am offering a break from all of it for all my Moorewatch friends.  This Saturday, May 10th the Sci Fi Channel is showing the film, “Aztec Rex” (check your local listing).  Now, why would I be bringing up a film showing on a saturday on Sci Fi Channel?  Three reasons:
1. Because like I said, it would be a nice break from all the crap going on in the world;

2. Because the film features several Hawaii-based actors in lead roles.  Which is a rarety in Hollywood these days.  Studios tend to think that there are only asians and polynesians living in Hawaii so they fly in mainland talent and occasionally toss us actors who are not asian or polynesian the background or “extra” roles for mere pittances.  Perhaps if studios see there are people who actually WANT to see Hawaii-based actors on the small and big screens, they might start casting us in more principal roles!

3. And finally, because yours truly is in one of those lead roles as the character “Alvarado”.

You can see the Sci Fi channel commercial here:

you can also see the listing on Sci Fi here:

So on saturday pop some popcorn, crack open a cold one, sit back, relax and watch some good old fashioned Hollywood B-Movie entertainment with half-naked Aztec women, dirty conquistadores, dinosaurs, sword fights, murder, mayhem, and Jack McGee playing a Spanish priest with a New York accent!

Thanks and God Bless!

Congratulations on a lead role! I don’t watch television because I can’t tolerate advertising, but I’ll be sure to put it on my Netflix queue when it comes out.

Got it set in the DVR, yngcelt! If you wind up at the Oscars, say hello to The Jiggly One for us, will ya?

I have only one question, yngcelt.  Do you get eaten by a T-Rex?

Just be glad that it’s not on opposite of “Corner Gas”.

Actually, I love watching Sci Fi channel and especially on Saturday nights.  There’s something great about “B” horror and sci-fi movies and I don’t have to work this weekend so I can stay up and watch it all.  Congrats on the role.

Now I can’t wait to see it!

LOL yeah, we’ll see.  If such an unlikely event occurred, I would most likely wait until he went to the bathroom and then kick him square in the nuts and tell him, “That’s for Jim K, Charlton Heston, every veteran of the Iraqi war and me, bitch!”
LOL

I saw . . . and for a minute there I thought you were going to become a burden to the Spanish health care system.

LOL Thank god the dino came and put me out of my misery.  I kind of thought of the character of Rios as a sort of Michael Moore type of character.  You know, used my character for as long as he could and then left me to die without a second thought?  Kind of like I was a wounded vet in a Moore-filmed “documentary”.

By the way, on Youtube there is some footage of the commercial they ran for this film on Sci Fi and somebody made a mention in the comments section about Moorewatch:

scroll down and read the comment by “veggicide77”
here is what he says, “Apparently one of the stalking morons from moorewatch stars in this.”

I got the impression your blood curdling scream at the end was just your typical reaction to reading the latest update at Moore’s website.

Actually, I used method acting for that scene.  I imagined how I would react if I woke up with Michael Moore lying naked next to me.

I guess it takes a stalker to know one...?

Hope you’ve got big, heavily-armed security people now that you’re a star, yngcelt, sounds like this guy wants to smell your hair while you sleep or something.

I’d rather be eaten by a T-Rex.

Saw the film, Yngcelt, and I gotta say...felt like typecasting to me. I mean seriously, think about it - At odds with a giant beastly creature with tunnel vision, no ability to feel for or with another being and, of course, a voracious appetite. Had it somehow been the Rex who was affiliated with the band of thieves and scalawags, it’d been a carbon copy of your battle with Mikey! Seriously, I enjoyed it. Fun popcorn flick. I gotta say, I do love my Sci-Fi!

mahalo for the kind words Dbug.
Maybe my next flick can be “Moorewatch the Movie”
