Bio

I’m 36 (soon to be 37!) years old and married to Jim Kenefick, owner and one of the founders of Moorewatch. We have no children - our pets are our kids. We currently have four cats (one recently passed away), but we used to have eleven (that’s right, I said ELEVEN) pets rats as well. Our lovely little rodents now wait for us at The Rainbow Bridge and I hope to have more again sometime in the near future. I am a huge animal lover with the odd exception of dogs, with whom I never seem to get along. I never could figure that one out.

I graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in English in 1998. I specialize in the art/science of deconstruction and firmly believe it can and should be applied to all things in life. I had begun work on a joint JD/MBA when I became quite ill several years ago and I have been battling with severe medical issues since then. I continue to fight towards a place of better health and I’m happy to say that I have been doing better as of late. Once I am able to resume some kind of normal existence again I hope to return to Yale and pursue a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology.

I love music of all kinds. In my youth I played classical piano for many years and I miss it terribly at times. I am a voracious reader and for many years read 5-6 books a week. I think it’s completely fair to say I’ve read thousands upon thousands of books in my short life - I trend I plan to continue. I am also an avid movie fan and enjoy films in all genres. To say I am a lover of the arts would be a fantastic understatement.

I am not overly political by any stretch of the imagination. I tend to view all political parties as I do all organized religions - they mean well but all seem to be fundamentally flawed either in concept or practice. I do not consider myself affiliated with any particular party, although it is very fair to say I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I believe in smaller government, more state’s rights, a formidable national defense, as few governmentally funded programs as possible and lower taxes. At the same time I am firmly pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, very pro-freedom of expression of all kinds, for the separation of church and state and against governmental control of our personal lives. I believe the Bill of Rights defines us as Americans and I support all rights equally. Yes, this means I am a gun owner… and a wickedly good shot as well. You should see me with a bow and arrow as well. ;)

I am intellectual, endlessly curious, freethinking, artistic, extroverted, sociable and a caregiver in every sense of the word. I believe in being nice until it is time not to be nice. I believe in constantly questioning anything and everything around us so that we may be better able to see the truth - and I believe that truth is one of the most important things in the world. I believe people are good and kind at their core and that every person has a valuable story to tell. I believe our purpose in life is to both learn and teach as much as we can and the the pursuit of knowledge and truth over arches all we do. Most of all I believe in freedom - in life, in art, in politics, in thought and in spirit.
