Hallimooreton

You’ll be shocked, shocked to read this, but it seems the great man of populist integrity is, at his heart, as much of a filthy capitalist whore as anyone.

PORCINE provocateur Michael Moore likes to portray himself as a working-class man of the people, but a new book exposes him as a “corporate criminal, environmental menace and racist union-buster.”
In “Do As I Say, Not As I Do: Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy,” Peter Schweizer reveals that Moore, who has been vociferous in his criticism of defense contractor Halliburton, has bought and sold hundreds of shares of Halliburton stock — and that of other defense contractors — through his private foundation.

Moore, who has claimed he doesn’t own a “single share” of stock, has also invested heavily in HMOs and pharmaceutical giants, the targets of his next movie, “Sickos.”

Moore also likes to rail against what he calls rampant racism in the United States and the fact that supposedly no one hires blacks for good jobs. Schweizer points out that “out of the 134 producers, editors, cinematographers, composers, and production coordinators Moore hired, only three were black.” And not one African-American lives in the ritzy Michigan enclave where Moore has a $1 million mansion.

And while publicly championing unions, Moore has been quite anti-union in his own business dealings and had several clashes with the Writers Guild.

We’ve detailed a number of these revelations here over the years, specifically the way Mike treats his staff and won’t allow them to unionize, pays them slave wages, and outsources much of his production work to Canada.  It’s good to see it all laid out in print, nicely researched and sourced.  I just bought this book from Amazon.

"[B]ecause as I look around at the state of this nation and see all of the weak little pampered candy-asses that are whining about this or protesting that, I’d be afraid to leave the fate of this nation entirely up to them.”

We need your videotape

Posted by JimK on 10/27 at 05:21 PM • E-mail this to a friend

Hey fellow Moorewatchers.  I need your help for a little project of which I cannot speak freely at this time.  However, I can say that if you dig this place and you’re interested in a broader, more well-rounded, less myopic view of Our Boy Mikey...you’re going to like it.  I know that Moorewatch can be narrow of focus at times.

What we need is your help.  We need videotape.  Actual physical tapes.  News broadcasts, TV appearances, absolutely ANYTHING you have on Michael Moore.  Nothing from movies or documentaries, but TV appearances, college appearances, political rallies, demos and news footage will all work.  Physical tapes would be best.  In a pinch, if there is absolutely no way to get the source, I might be able to use downloadable video but it’s going to have to be fairly decent quality.  Definitely look to physical tapes first.

Again, it doesn’t matter what show or network it was on, or even how old it is.  I would say we could even use foreign news sources.  Mike on al Jazeera?  Sure, why not.  If you have ANY tapes with footage of Mike...please consider sending it to me.  I promise it will be put to good use.

You can send it to:

Moore Tapes
PO Box 4302
Hamden CT 06514 USA

Much thanks in advance.  Y’all rock.  smile

Who can be bothered writing actually articles about this fruit anymore?  Just go read this and try not to throw up when you think how she prostitutes her dead son, his brothers-in-arms and herself all for the warmth of the spotlight.

The story is unfolding slowly. Too slowly for my taste, but at least it is unfolding.

Democratic Voter Fraud? Impossible!

Posted by paratrooper on 10/20 at 11:59 AM • E-mail this to a friend

I wonder if Michael Moore will include this story in his “Fahrenheit 9/11-1/2” movie?

Gateway Pundit has the story:

More Democrats to be Indicted in East St. Louis

The St. Louis area has seen 16 Democrat election workers convicted of voter fraud or similar charges this past year. This past week an obstruction of justice and plotting to murder a government voter fraud witness can be added to that list of Democrat convictions:

Although, Kelvin Ellis was convicted of voter fraud, tax evasion, and pled guilty to obstruction of justice and plotting to kill a government witness, his “running a prostitution ring out of City Hall” charge did not make it to court!

Former Democratic Party Leader and Director of Regulatory Affairs, Kelvin Ellis told the judge that he understood the charges against him and pled guilty on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 to obstruction of justice and plotting to kill a government witness. His trial had been set for today, October 17.

Gateway has a link-o-rama on the subject of Democratic Voter Fraud in East St. Louis.

You gotta read this one too, it’s unbelieveable:

More is coming out from the testimony today in the St. Louis Post Dispatch:

Youngblood’s testimony was largely directed at Ellis and Johnson. Her claims included:

* Seeing Ellis pay voters in the 2002 election, when Ellis was running for precinct committeeman. It happened in the bathroom and open areas of a home near the poll, she said.

* Paying voters herself in the November election, which she insisted was at the behest of Ellis and Johnson.

* Observing Ellis flash five fingers, then 10, when asked how much voters should be paid.

* Having Ellis tell her to type a racist, anonymous letter urging Republican election judges to get blacks out of power; she said it was a ploy to keep them out of the city on Election Day.

Why isn’t this getting more press?

Dear Para…

Posted by paratrooper on 10/19 at 10:49 AM • E-mail this to a friend

I’ve been receiving a different kind of letter recently. Not the usual Hate Mail or “Moorewatch is the greatest” mail, rather, from people who disgree with my opinon about something, and wish further clarification on the subject. The difference is that they have avoided name-calling, insults, or insinuations about my personal relationship with goats.

Here is one such letter.

Dear Para,

I couldn’t help but notice your latest post praising those that volunteer for the military. All well and good; we had a documentary in Sydney the other day which showed more than half of the 130 000 U.S. soldiers in Iraq are National Guardsmen; thats right, weekend soldiers!!! And you know what? the guardsman interviewed had his contract extended for 2 YEARS one month before it was due to expire and was then sent to Iraq for nearly 2 years!!!Apparently there are tens of thousands of guardsmen who have been forced against their will to go to Iraq in similar circumstances. So by all means praise brave volunteers, but it seems at least half the U.S forces in Iraq are not soldiers trained for international warfare and they have been forced against their will to go; we might add for biscuit money while Kellog, Brown and Root (a subsidiary of Halliburton; for the kiddies) employees are on over 1000 bucks a day. Why on earth should 65 000 National Guardsmen be forced against their will to go to Iraq? How about some airtime for these people on your website or do you only support military people that agree with your position on the war?
Yours Sincerely
Geoff Capelin
Sydney, Australia

Geoff,

I seriously doubt that the “documentary” you speak of featured an unbiased look at the National Guard, in fact, I’d be willing to bet that much of the “information” you learned was not the complete story. For example, all of the National Guardsmen in Iraq VOLUNTEERED for military service. They may not be thrilled to be in a theater of war, ( who would be?) but they sure as hell aren’t there “against thier will”. While I don’t doubt that the “documentarians” were able to find a Guardsman who enlisted, thinking that he would never have to do anything except go camping once a year in exchange for free tuition and medical care, but he surely doesn’t represent the majority of Guardsmen. When one volunteers to serve, they have ( or should , anyway) a reasonable expectation that they will be called on to actually serve.

Our National Guardsmen and Military Reservists deserve the same admiration and appreciation as our Active Duty forces. They stand shoulder to shoulder with the regular troops and serve the cause of freedom with honor. Don’t be suckered in by the propagandists, they’ll only misinform you at every turn.

How do you spot a propagandist , You say?

Well, for starters, ask yourself a question: Why would somebody bother to spend the money and time to make a film about the number of National Guardsmen in Iraq versus the number of Active Duty forces?
If you answer that truthfully, then you will know whether this “film maker” is a true documentarion or a Michael Moore-type of propagandist.

I’m sure the Moorewatchers would like to chime in on this, as they will no doubt have lots of more info for you.

Thanks for writing.

Regards,

Para

A response to a Iraq War Mother.

Posted by paratrooper on 10/16 at 12:09 AM • E-mail this to a friend

I received this e-mail today:

Para,

Please, please respond to Cindy Sheesham’s latest letter.  I know you said that you will not be responding any longer but she is now comparing herself to Christ’s mother Mary.  I am horrified and disgusted by this.  I am a military mother who’s son Aaron has been to Iraq twice and would go again if ordered.  Although I was not happy about it I understand that this was his decision and respect that.  Your postings give me strength and make me laugh at times.  I am constantly calling my husband to the computer monitor to read something.  My Aaron loves your site and visits when he gets the chance.  Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing it with us!

From: R.G.

A few days ago, I wrote a post claiming that I was done with Sheehan and her nonsense. For those of you who have been readers of this site for a year or more, you know I rarely if ever have gone back on my word.

But how could I say “no” to a letter like that?

Ask Moore.

Posted by paratrooper on 10/14 at 07:35 PM • E-mail this to a friend

Similar to an open thread, but better

Here’s the topic:.

List three questions you would ask Michael Moore if you had the chance.

I’ll start:

Michael,

1) Would you still produce political commentary if you were doing it for free, like bloggers do?

2) Do you ever find yourself disagreeing with an opinion based soley on who issued it?

3) Will you admit that you sometimes fabricate scenes in your films to make a point, but still pass them off as “factual”?

Enjoy.

Fahrenheit revisited.

Posted by paratrooper on 10/12 at 12:03 AM • E-mail this to a friend

For those of us who were unfotrunate enough to sit through Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9-11, one scene that I’m sure will be remembered is the scene with “the recruiters”. Moore painted a pitcure ( without actually saying it) that our Military recruiters actually seek out minority and poor Americans for recruitment for service in the armed forces. He showed edited scenes of two Marine Corps recruiters leaving one shopping mall where they were recruiting in favor of another mall which Moore explained was the “poorer” mall (implying that the recruiters would find easy prey there). I thoroughly explored this scene in my post last year on the subject. READ IT HERE

My research for the article revealed two things;

1) Moore’s contention that poor minorites are over-targeted for recruitment and over-represented in the Military is patently false.

2) Michael Moore is either stupid, or a liar, since an easy check of the demographics of those two malls shows the recruiters decided to work at the more affluent area, which is the opposite of what Moore claimed. ( my previous article spells this out pretty well, and the reader’s comments expand on the research even more) I guess he never figured any one would ever check his story so closely.

Interestingly enough, since my article, another study has been done which shows Moore is more off-base than even I previously thought. After watching Moore’s movie, one would certainly get the impression that people in the lower 40% of the economic scale were basically carrying the lion’s share of the “burden” of our country’s military service, while those who were in the top 40% were grossly under-represented. Shocker, Moore is completely wrong.

Mark Tapscott has the rest of the story.

In fact, the percentage difference between the richest and poorest quintiles increases between 1999 and 2003! And the highest percentage is actually in the second richest quintile of recruits, followed by the richest quintile. It is no exaggeration to say America’s most prosperous families bear the greatest share of the burden of fighting in America’s defense.

By now, I don’t think there is a person alive who believes Moore’s movie if full of facts, in fact, proving him wrong is so easy, the sport of it is almost non existent anymore.

HOWEVER,

The fun of proving him wrong will probably never wear off, so surf on over to the Tapscott Copy Desk and check out the research.

Homie Hosers

Posted by Lee on 10/11 at 01:52 PM • E-mail this to a friend

Michael Moore is right, if we could just be more like Canada we’d never have any gun violence or racial unrest.

Decades after the civil rights movement fought for racial integration, a Toronto coalition of 22 black community groups disgusted by gun murders in the city wants a separate set of rules and institutions for blacks — from a government department to a diversion program for minor crimes.

The ambitious demands are, black leaders say, a turning point. …

Among the more far-reaching solutions proposed is a new provincial ministry office on African-Canadian affairs, created to help black Ontarians get access to services that alleviate poverty, help keep youth in school and allow them to thrive culturally.

The coalition is also calling for:
• A court diversion program for blacks who commit minor offences.
• An economic development agency for blacks.
• A skills training and employment access program focused on blacks.
• Police to keep race-based statistics.
• Repeal of the zero-tolerance school discipline policy, which the Ontario Human Rights Commission is investigating for accusations that it deals more harshly with blacks.
• A federal-provincial and cross-border task force to address trafficking in weapons and drugs.
• An independent civilian review of police misconduct.
• A halt to a large youth detention facility planned for Brampton, which it calls a “superjail.”
• The coalition also supports calls for a black-focused school and envisions a vibrant African-Canadian cultural centre.

The coalition also called for separate water fountains and public bathrooms for blacks.  But what, of all things, could cause such strife in the socialist utopia of Canada, where government takes care of everything and everyone loves each other?  Among other things, such as poverty and drugs and crime, we have this.

Gun deaths have ravaged Toronto’s black community more than ever this summer. Out of more than 60 homicides this year, a record 41 have involved a firearm. Black community leaders say “90 per cent” have involved blacks.

Gee, poor black people are killing each other with firearms and destroying the communities they live in, and the other blacks are blaming whitey for all their problems.  Perhaps America and Canada are a lot more similar than the Canadians want to admit.

And kudos to Canada for the excellent results of their gun control program!  It’s got to be gratifying for these armed black criminals to know that their law-abiding black victims will be unarmed and defenseless.

Go back to sleep, children, the nanny state will take care of everything you need.
