Moorewatchers with long memories - you are needed
I just did an interview about the whole “appearing in Sicko” situation, and something strange came up - I was told that at one point, Moore shows a screenshot of this site, specifically the post where I thanked the anonymous guardian angel. That is juxtaposed with a screenshot where all you can read are the words “Dear Michael, fuck you.”
I can’t find those words in ANY posts. Not that I deny saying it. Obviously I’ve been angry enough at various times to say exactly that. In no way do I accuse Moore of Photoshopping this the way he did with that Pantagraph article in Fahrenheit 9/11. Rather, I’d like to know the context, since context is something Moore tends to leave out.
Can anyone remember this? The only thing I can think of is that it was lost in one of the two data crashes. I checked Google’s cache and the Wayback machine, but I can’t find it. Did I write it? Was it one of the other authors? Does anyone remember what the context was?
By the way, I was also told that the movie may have been re-edited, as I am no longer at the end, but rather 3/4 of the way in. I’m not aware if that was how it always was, or if he moved the segment after the Cannes premiere.
Still, no matter where it is in the movie, it’s gotta be the most boring few minutes imaginable. Can you imagine that conversation in the editing bay?
“Mike, are you sure about this?”
“Look! I know what I am doing here. Screenshots of a blog will tug on the old heartstrings and drive home the point that we need to revamp the health care system! Copy & paste is a viable film technique!”
“It’s just that it totally stalls everything and doesn’t really amount to much as far as the larger narrative goes. It’s a speedbump.”
“Did you win an Oscar?”
“No.”
“Well I did. The screenshots stay!”
Hey. He won an Oscar, he must know what he’s doing. :)

I’m Swedish as I said before, and I just think its funny how MM the dumbass himself said the whole audience at the cinema in cannes was giving him standing ovations, well PERHAPS ITS BECAUSE IN THAT FUCKING MEDICAL LIST FRANCE WAS NR1 AND FRENCH PEOPLE THINK THE HIGHEST OF THEMSELF.
Damn it,can’t stand the french,my dad has been there many times, they refuse to talk to you or answere if you don’t speak in french and with an perfect accent, these people are retarded.
Anyway Sweden has a lot better medical system then what that fucking list showed, lol we are considered by many to have one of the best living standards in everything, but nooo! That list is fucked up.
It’s probably another “fake but accurate” paraphrasing.
Do you trust the interviewer? Sounds like something that would fuck up his PG-13 rating and make it harder for school teachers to shown when it hits the DVD market.

You can say Fuck twice in a PG-13 movie. Ask Bruce Willis.
Yeah, but Willis gets away with it because he kills all the bad guys and truth and justice wins in the end. Moore’s catharsis is a little different.
I don’t remember JimK saying it, in fact JimK was very appreciative but stated that if it was mikkkel who gave the money, it wouldn’t stop JimK from seeking and destroying all of moore’s lies.
I’m thinking this is probably just another cut and edit job in the vein of the constructed Charlton Heston speech in BFC. Let’s get moore to show the page on this site where Jimk or Lee said that specifically regarding the gift of money.
It’s hard to speculate about what Moore’s doing without actually seeing it, but if it is another cut and paste job as suggested above, you would have to listen very carefully to what the voice-over is saying. Moore might be saying something like “My work has produced all sorts of angry response..” the first shot of the Moorewatch logo would be an example, then he cuts to a random email he got from someone saying “Michael, Fuck you,” then he cuts to another example. The question is whether the “Fuck you” message is specifically attributed to “Moorewatch” by a visual of the logo, or whether it is from a random series of things.
I don’t get why he is doing this. I saw him on Ophrah and the film looks really interesting--certainly higher on my list than all the comic book drivel coming out this summer. If he’s got an interesting take about health care going, why cut to this crap about his “enemies” at Moorewatch? It is so small-minded for someone who wants to save the nation.

Hey! Watch yer mouth about comic book material, pal!
Relax, I still have my copy of Silver Surfer #1.

Yeah, I’d be curious if you if did say it in that post or not… but if you ever said it, he’ll put that on the screen and imply it is related… we all know this.
I can’t say it’s impossible for me to have said that, as every once’d in a while I would really get in a snit about something he said or did, but sadly, my world is not that ironic. In the end, it hardly matters because in Mooreality, JimK said it and it was regarding the money. The truth is merely collateral damage.

I was using your question to talk about JimK. Its not all about you. :)
Sorry. In my defense, it WAS me that you quoted when responding…

Dear Mike,
Fuck you. Since I am less articulate than Captain Ed, I’ll let his entry here be my response to the inanity in your latest message.
First, can we stop the Orwellian language and start using the proper names for things? Those are not contractors in Iraq. They are not there to fix a roof or to pour concrete in a driveway. They are MERCENARIES and SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE. They are there for the money, and the money is very good if you live long enough to spend it.
If I were a soldier or a contractor in Iraq, or the family of said personnel, I might be tempted to track you down and beat your ass for what you said. You are a shameless, pandering user and you should be shunned by all, be they on the right or the left.
You disgust me,
Jim K.
Just do a Google search with:
Moorewatch Dear Mike, Fuck you.
Michael Moore didn’t misquote/distory/photoshop the posting.
Depends on the context. If it is painted as an ungrateful response to his “generosity”, then yes, it’s a distortion. If it outlines his digust with Moore’s propagandist word choice on his website messages (at least, the ones he doesn’t take down and pretend never existed), then it is not a distortion.
Given that it’s a single quote from three years ago, would you also agree that it is not representative of the overall content of the site? Now, if he had cited a post calling him fat, that would actually be more fair, since people tend to fall back on that old line pretty frequently. I would consider such misrepresentation of the site’s content to be a distortion unto itself, if this is the case.
Funny how you don’t see Michael so swift to point out the same and far worse being said with great regularity on DU or the Puffington Host or Kos.
Michael Moore didn’t misquote/distory/photoshop the posting.
I never said he did. I expressly said I thought he didn’t.
Did you bother to read that part?
Now I know the context. Funny how Moore left that part out of the film.
I can see Lee definitely saying it. If you had said it, it was likely in response to one of moore’s blatant lies and outright fabrication.
