Sorry, Tubby.  Go Home and Die.

Posted by Lee on 01/28/08 at 10:48 AM

Take note, Michael Moore, you fat bastard.

Doctors are calling for NHS treatment to be withheld from patients who are too old or who lead unhealthy lives.

Smokers, heavy drinkers, the obese and the elderly should be barred from receiving some operations, according to doctors, with most saying the health service cannot afford to provide free care to everyone.

That’s right, tubby.  You’re a multi-millionaire, so you can afford to climb into your private jet and scoot off to the world’s most luxurious fat farms when you want to drop a couple of pounds.  But the average working class Joe, who eats the same food you do and puts on a few pounds, well, he doesn’t qualify for healthcare under your socialist medical care utopia.  But wait, it gets better.

Fertility treatment and “social” abortions are also on the list of procedures that many doctors say should not be funded by the state.

That’s right, Mikey.  Not only is your socialist paradise going to stand by and allow fat fucks like you to drop dead of a heart attack, but they’re also going to prevent pregnant women from terminating their pregnancies, as well as only allowing the infertile rich to have children, since poor people won’t be able to afford to pay for the treatment themselves.

Oh yeah, that free healthcare is a wonderful thing, isn’t it?  Smokers, fatties, sluts, and the barren, all of them are completely fucked under your socialist healthcare fantasyland.

The findings of a survey conducted by Doctor magazine sparked a fierce row last night, with the British Medical Association and campaign groups describing the recommendations from family and hospital doctors as “out rageous” and “disgraceful”.

About one in 10 hospitals already deny some surgery to obese patients and smokers, with restrictions most common in hospitals battling debt.

Managers defend the policies because of the higher risk of complications on the operating table for unfit patients. But critics believe that patients are being denied care simply to save money.

Of course they’re being denied treatment because of money.  Money is a finite resource.  In economic terms it is “a scarce resource which has alternate uses.” And when the government provides all the fabulous free healthcare that people could ever hope for, they will quickly run out of money, because the public has no financial incentive NOT to go to the doctor.

But keep pushing for this evil scheme, you fat fuck.  Someone can always buy one of your books or DVDs instead of paying for their own medical care, while you hobnob with the rest of the unhealthy socialist millionaires at your $20,000 a day for-profit Swiss health chalet.

Update: Oh man, it just gets better and better.

School lunchboxes could soon be monitored by dinner ladies to ensure children are eating healthy meals, ministers said.

Under the Government’s obesity strategy, all schools will be expected to design a “healthy lunchbox policy” on what makes a nutritional packed lunch over the next year.

Some parents may even be asked to sign a form agreeing to ban unhealthy foods from their children’s lunches.

If a packed lunch is deemed to contain too much fat and sugar, parents could be sent warning letters or their children’s meals confiscated.

That’s right.  The food Nazis are now going to be keeping an Orwellian eye on what British children eat.  If they make food choices that Big Brother has determined are not in the public interest, then the Gestapo will ensure you comply.  Then, if the kid happens to choose to smoke or turns into a fat kid anyway, well, don’t come crying to the government for fabulous free healthcare.

Hey Michael Moore, we all know that you (or at least one of your low-paid, non-union flunkies) read this site.  Do you have the balls at all to comment on this?  You claim to oppose government and worship individual freedom, but the very policies you support are going to result in this type of surveillance-state over fucking food.  So rather than suck your own cock over your latest Oscar nomination, why don’t you show some integrity and actually send out one of your Mike’s Messages either supporting this type of police state activism or decrying it?

Naah, you’ll just keep sucking your own cock, won’t you?  Have fun at the fat farm, Tubby.

But critics believe that patients are being denied care simply to save money.

Well, isn’t that blatantly obvious? Or is the NHS just being deliberately cruel because they figure fat folks and smokers have no reason to live?

Oh, this is so getting cartooned.

Don’t forget that those who are deemed “too old” will also be refused healthcare.  Imagine paying those British income taxes for all of those years and just because you reach your 70’s or 80’s, “NO CARE FOR YOU!!!” Lovely…

Christ, Lee!  That was angrier than usual.  Is everything ok?

Posted by Lee  on  01/29/2008  at  06:08 AM (Link to this comment | )

Yeah, it’s fine.  I was just using “fat fuck” to drive home the point, that this obese bastard sits there promoting a system which will deprive people just like him, but who lack his financial means, the healthcare that he will gladly pay for himself.

Michael Moore would NEVER go to a government-run hospital.

Reminded of an early Day by Day comic talking about Gore and school vouchers. How the comic’s Liberal said that Gore opposed school vouchers FOR THE PEOPLE!!!!, until Damon points out that a huge majority of black families want school vouchers so that their kids can escape failed public schools.

“Then why hasn’t Gore gone public?”
“Because his kids go private.”

See, that’s the thing. The more of the common plebes that Moore and company can force into staying in shoddy public services (schools, health care, etc.), then the fewer of those disgraceful commoners there are to clog their fabulous private institutions.

Jeez Lee, sounds like you’ve got yourself a serious case of cacomorphobia, might be time to find yourself a shrink.

If your “fat fuck” friend JimK has a heart attack and drops dead, I sincerely hope you will be giving the eulogy for the “fat bastard”.

I can’t even imagine the ingenious witticisms you would deliver in honour of your deceased tubby friend.

Now THAT would be entertainment.

Wait.  Hold on a minute.

I’M FAT?  Really?  Is that why my clothes are so big?  Could this explain why I had to buy a fat guy office chair?  Would it explain the enormity of the number I see when I step on the scale?

Well, you could bowl me over with a feather!  Mephistopheles you must be some kind of fucking genius.  When are you expecting your Nobel?

The really sad part is, you think you’re being clever.  How witty!  You took the fact that I’m fat and, instead of arguing anything remotely like a point, tried that old “flip the script\” personal attack shit!

“Never seen that one before!” he said, his droll tone indicating that he had seen it more times than he could count.

The funny part is, I’ve lost 65 pounds since July ‘07.  Has your IQ gone up 65 points since July ‘07?  Someday I’ll be a reasonable size and in shape.  You’ll always be a stupid bastard.

Food Nazis? Gestapo? This paints a distorted picture of Britain as Moore.

Obesity is a Chronic problem in both England and America, a massive strain on both healthcare systems and the main cause of premature death.

Lee, your rant/diatribe is aggressive, ignorant and in bad taste given the severity of the issues you raise.

Offensive rather than informative, Moore-esque in tone. Shocking, but in the wrong way Lee.

Hope the above link works, if not try and google “gerry nhs” and find the Telegraph article “I can fix the NHS - but they won’t listen”

This guy is a businessman, not a politician or socialist, who sees the immense value in such an organisation.

The article gives and brief overview of some of the problems the NHS faces and potential solutions. Not at all conclusive but should add another dimension to the debate.

And once again, although it would be lovely if britain was a socialist paradise, it is not. Our welfare system is means tested as is (so I believe) American welfare.

If Britain was a socialist country everyone would be equal and no one would need welfare, especially not means tested because thet would mean everyone was not equal…

Perhaps Moore should have done a little extra research and perhaps there is another 60 years left in the NHS yet.

Please big Jim, I hate to see a grown man cry.

Your friend Lee has shown that he has to resort to taunting fatties to get their attention. Does he use the same technique with you?

Interesting… you attempted to compare pounds lost with IQ points gained and yet you have the gall to label me a “stupid bastard”?

You’re completely devoid of munition on me and your absurd vituperation attests to your intellectual bankruptcy.

Truly pathetic.

Mephistopheles...isn’t that a character from an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical?
I have some ammo for you.

How about you read the whole post, and then comment on the SUBSTANCE of the post. How about responding to the ridiculous notion that we need the government telling us how to live our lives? That’s what the NHS seems to be saying. I don’t want the government telling me what to eat or whether or not I can have a smoke. I want to make my own decisions. So how about you, Mr. Mephistopheles? What do you think about the NHS denying care for people who smoke or become overweight? What do you think about the government monitoring parent-provided lunches?

Please reply with something meaningful instead of distracting people from the discussion.

Yes, but it’s also a name for the Devil.

This is one of those “edgy” fourteen-year-olds. Y’know, goes on IRC as “Lord_of_Dark666” to troll the Christian rooms by saying “You worship some dumbass that got nailed to a cross, haha!”

The SUBSTANCE of the original post Belcatar, is that universal healthcare automatically equals socialist utopia or orwellian nazi state.

And that’s just crap. I’m not even going to bother telling you why, because I know you know it. To tell you the truth I first thought yncelt wrote this shit…

P.S. And no. I’m not particulary interested in going into a post-war about who’s the biggest fuckwit in here. I just delivered my two cents…

The SUBSTANCE of the original post Belcatar, is that universal healthcare automatically equals socialist utopia or orwellian nazi state.

I don’t see Lee use the word utopia anywhere.  The closest he gets is “socialist paradise” which is subtly different.  At any rate, Universal healthcare is most definitely a socialist idea, especially in the way it is implemented.  Let’s go to dictionary.com.

socialism - 1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.

I would say this idea of Universal healthcare fits in nicely with definitions 1 and 2, and obviously can be argued for number 3.  As for the Orwellian nazi state, well, the argument is made in the post itself, completely backed up by citations from the article, as to how this is exactly true.  When the government watches what you do, and penalizes you for bad behaviour in regards to *eating* I would say that definitely characterizes Big Brother watching you.  Having the government watch the citizenry is not always a bad thing (cop patrols in neighborhoods, fire surverys, etc) but when it comes to issues that do not involve laws on the books, one begins to worry.  What next, government mandated exercise programs?  “You can’t have our healthcare if you don’t exercise 30 minutes a day 5 days a week or more.” As we’ve seen from the food tracking, this can, and most likely will, happen.  It’s simple economics.  Current insurance companies do this already in the form of raising premiums.  It is how they make sure they don’t lose money.  And you can believe the government will be even worse about it (hard to believe, I know.)
At any rate, yes, Universal healthcare in every form I’ve seen it *does* necessarily equate to socialism.

Obesity is a Chronic problem in both England and America, a massive strain on both healthcare systems and the main cause of premature death.

So the solution is to eliminate the care to the group of people that are costing the system the most money.  That is the proposed solution, right?  I don’t want to misrepresent the idea being proposed here.  The way to save the system is to eliminate the coverage of the people in catagories that cost the system the most money.

Fine.

Study: Obese people, smokers cheaper to treat

Quoting the article:

In a nutshell

A Dutch study compared the health-care costs of three groups: thin and nonsmoking, obese people and smokers.

Cancer incidence, except for lung cancer, was the same in all three groups. Obese people had the most diabetes, and healthy people had the most strokes.

Ultimately, the thin and healthy group cost the most, about $417,000, from age 20 on. The cost of care for obese people was $371,000, and for smokers, about $326,000.

The results counter the common perception that preventing obesity will save health systems worldwide millions of dollars.

The study did not take into account other potential costs of obesity and smoking, such as lost economic productivity or social costs.

Posted by Jim on 02/04/2008 at 09:37 AM (Link to this comment | ) “It’s simple economics.”

Yes, but it’s often more. Sometimes it’s just the nanny socialist ideology that believes it has a right to intervene… in everything… just rolling on to the next logical intervention step… It’s not like they’ll all dry up and blow away once we have public run healthcare… Being healthy can become a simple ‘social’ obligation. That’s their mindset (re: that they have a right to plan our lives)… and if we’d only listen it would be grand / utopia…

Whereas ours is to think of social policy in terms of [real world based] economics. What can we afford or not afford… what works and at what costs…
