Capitalism Did Nothing For Me

Where does Mikey think the people who see his movies and line his pockets get their money from? Where does he think the funding for his film comes from? The difficult in getting movies made and books published is not unique to Moore. Everyone in Hollywood is struggling to get something made. Some of the most brilliant books and majestic movies we know spent years, sometimes decades, without garnering interest or funding.
As for the $50 million figure, CNS has more on Moore’s money:
According to Fortune Magazine, Moore’s films have grossed over $300 million worldwide. His highest grossing film was “Fahrenheit 9/11,” which critiques the Bush administration’s handling of the war in Iraq and earned over $200 million worldwide.
Moore reportedly was paid $21 million by Disney for producing, directing and creating the film.
Moore also earned 50 percent of the profits of his 2007 film “Sicko,” totaling $25 million plus DVD sales, according to Vanity Fair.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Moore would receive all of the profits made from DVD sales of “Sicko,” sales of which have been estimated at over $17 million.
It is evil capitalists, not noble socialists, who are falling over themselves to fund his movies. He’s not getting money from the government or some hippy collective. He’s getting money from Walt Fucking Disney—that’s as capitalist as it gets.
And more power to him. I don’t begrudge Moore a single penny of the money he makes. It’s a free country and he’s not holding a gun to the heads of the dupes who fill the theaters seats. All we do is dispute the facts, the honesty and the logic of what he says.

Do you think F911 would have been released if we were in a socialist system? Not a chance in hell. The government would be distributing cash for “art”, and do you really think they’d fund something that is so critical?

So I watched Hannity interview Chubs last night.
When I heard his claim about the “FBI says 80%...”
I figured it must be b.s. simply because it came out of his piehole.
As I suspected, compare the way he words the statistic at his site: “The FBI says that 80% of the mortgage fraud was induced by the banks, not the individuals seeking loans”
Now compare to the 2006 FBI report he’s indirectly referring to: “Based on existing investigations and Mortgage Fraud reporting, 80 percent of all reported fraud losses involve collaboration or collusion by industry insiders.”

Got that? “Reported” fraud. “Collaboration or collusion by industry insiders.”
Are all industry insiders bankers? No. There’s a ton of wiggle room in there for Moore’s claim.
Besides, how does this refute whether people didn’t read the documents they signed, and bought homes they couldn’t afford? What does this have to do with the legal though disastrous CRA, and other actions groups like ACORN took to induce banks to loosen lending standards?
Did anyone notice that he simply avoided answering the question by evasion and counter accusation? Since when is Disney passing on a film distribution deal equivalent to “trying to kill” the film? The same holds true for Harper Collins. His zero-sum approach to everything in the marketplace belies a genuine savy as to how to mine a vein of discontent and milk it for every dime he can squeeze out of it.
Why is it credible for people to say “the system isn’t set up for...”? Nobody is in charge of setting up “the system”. It is simply free people making free choices as to how to spend their money in an open marketplace. If it were controlled by the infamous “Them” then how come 50% of the Fortune 500 companies turn over every 20 years? Remember A&P; or Mongomery Ward? If the sytem were controlled by the already wealthy then New Coke and the Edsel should have been rousing successes.
The system has never been more accessible, since the advent of the internet. You can sell anything that you want to sell because you have global access with marketing tools like Craig’s List and Ebay. If Disney won’t distribute your film then put trailers on Youtube and sell it on DVD’s marketed on Craig’s List. “If you build a better mousetrap...”
Do we really want government forcing public access for everything down our throats so Michael’s dream of having every hairbrained scheme by every “working class guy” get public exposure? What’s his plan, another Czar? Is he angling for the job of “Public Access Czar”?

How does Moore get away with his lies? He’s STILL repeating the Disney thing, even though we all know that Disney informed him at least a year in advance that they wouldn’t be distributing the movie.
How does he even look himself in the mirror knowing what a completely unscrupulous and dishonorable person he is?
