Blogging for AOL
In an effort to help Manufacturing Dissent’s coming release on DVD, I agreed to post once in a blue moon (they’re very flexible) at AOL’s Manufacturing Dissent blog. Well...tonight, in a matter of a couple of hours, the activity has blown up. Anyone care to pop over and help a brotha out? Too. Many. Moore-ons! :)
Comments
So THAT’s where all the braindead moore-ons ran screaming and hiding.
Yep, did you see them protesting at APEC?...or as your president called it: UPEC
or as your president called it: UPEC
Where is ilovecress? I’d like to lodge a complaint about waking up this morning to hear my country being slagged… once again. }:>

Done and done.
Though I think I may have rambled on a bit much.
(Yeah, so what else is new, right?)
Godwinned within the first fifteen comments. Why am I not surprised?
Actually Bush welcomed the elite to the “OPEC” conference at APEC in Australia. The irony that OPEC is related to oil was not missed by the media. Bush then went on to congratulate the “Austrian” troops fighting the war in Iraq, I looked closely at the television screen and couldn’t see Arnold Swartzenegger anywhere so I figured George must have a bad case of jet lag. And you wonder why we protested,?? anyway the DVD, Manufacturing Dissent looks interesting, hopefully I get a chance to watch it.
Unless old comments have rolled over an edge, it seems most are in agreement with you.
Trust me, Red Star, we do NOT wonder why you protested. We NEVER wonder why liberals protest.
Bismark, I wondered why the leader of the free world didn’t appear to know what country he was in, or what conference he was attending. I looked up a few other presidential speeches given by George...then I stopped wondering.
Yes, Red Star, that is an entirely fresh new take on Bush. Thanks for bringing something to the table that other liberal visitors fail to bring to this site. Perhaps you would like to comment on Manufacturing Dissent while you’re here...?
Bismark, I find it difficult to argue with the facts presented on the inconsistencies in Moore’s arguments. The DVD, ‘Manufacturing Dissent’ to the best of my knowledge at least is not currently available in Australia, so not having seen it I cannot comment on the film itself.
I do however have to concede that there is the distinct possibility Michael may not be all he appears to be. Having said that I also must admit I have enjoyed some of his work on entertainment value alone, however in political rhetoric entertainment may not be substantial enough for proving an argument, I think the likes of Sean Hannity also prove that.
I do not wish to change direction in this particular topic, but I find other commentators, such as John Pilger far more persuading in their views and the evidence they put forward than people like Michael. There is a film being released here in Australia very shortly by Pilger titled ‘The War On Democracy’ I will comment further when I get the chance to view that particular documentary.
Just so you know, Red Star, someone emailed me to let us all know that the DVD for Manufacturing Dissent will be released in Australia Oct. 5th by a company called DV1. That’s all I know for now...hope it helps.
Spooky. Y’all talk about it and my inbox supplies the answer. Someone’s watching us. :)
I’ll give you this, Red Star: Pilger has good websites, both for himself and for The War on Democracy. Having said that, though, TWOD doesn’t appear to be adding anything that we haven’t heard before—rather standard paint-by-numbers leftist documentary, IMO. (At least Moore bloviates in an occasionally-amusing manner.) Still, I’m curious how Pilger will swing the whole “Hugo Chavez is the only leader of an oil-producing nation to use its resources democratically...[italics mine]” That statement alone seems to be riddled with errors.
Thankyou Jim, I will keep an eye out for it. And I have some idea as to what Pilger is referring to in his comment on Chavez bismarck, but will wait till I see the film before commenting further. I think the “paint by numbers” comment is simplifying things a little. Large parts of Latin America still suffer from what happened to them in their political history. Some of their wounds may be self inflicted, but someone needs to take responsibility for those that were not. Up until this point I am unaware of anyone stepping forward to take that responsibility, I may be mistaken in my views there and stand to be corrected if I am. Pilger speaks for himself in an article on his site, http://www.johnpilger.com/page.asp?partid=450
I think the good question is why, at APEC, there wasn’t that much of a protest over China.
(Chaser stolen)
Lowbacca, there were protests held over China, members of Falun Gong held regular protests, as did the Taiwanese, the sensationlist media just failed to give them extensive local coverage. A better question may be why the leaders of nations participating, up until this point at least, have not spoken out about the next Olympics being held in Beijing.?

hehehe Touche. Seriously, don’t question my patriotism!!! ;-)
But then again, isn’t this what this blog is all about?
I like your style, ilovecress. :)
This looks good.
I will purchase a copy. You don’t think the movie will come to Australia do you?
