Hate Spam

To whoever the dumb fuck is who has been signing me up to mailing lists all day: don’t you realize that every one of them requires an email confirmation?  By not responding to the email I don’t get added to the list.  And besides, it takes me all of about five seconds to add those addresses to my spam filter.  If you want to waste hours signing me up for mailing lists be my guest.

Yes, everyone.  Michael Moore fans are this stupid.

Wow, talk about completely failing at being an asshole.

Sure they’re stupid, but they do give you some valuable material.  If it weren’t for the ignoramuses that have vehemently supported, though oftentimes proclaimed independence of (from) the ideas, that Moore and his ilk have offered for our consumption and subsequent vomitization, this site could have never achieved its “prestigious” position as a debunker of BS arguments.  Let’s face facts, you need these imbeciles if you’re really going to be able to continue to forward your position.  In truth, those that oppose this site’s message do more to forward its goal than do those who hold positions similar to your own.  Moore is a piece-of-shit liar, and this fact is widely known now - thanks in large part to the efforts of this site (and others with similar content).  But those who continue to bring the battle to you on his behalf (or behalf of his ideals) do more damage to the cause than you could ever have done.  Let them.  And please continue to post the evidence that they are doing so.

Some of them are this stupid, not all. And for every left wing fool putting your email on something there is probably a rightwing fool doing the same for some lefty blogger.

The moron hit me with about 120 spam e-mails too.

Gosh, I guess they really showed us, Lee.

so, uh, I guess we renounce our conservatism now or what?

No, they’re not all stupid. In fact, some of them are quite clever. (A little too clever for their own good, sometimes, in fact.)

And yes, there are the occassional asshats from the right that pull this sort of crap, too.

However… as biased as this may come across, leftist troublemakers are simply more vicious, and more active.
During the 2000 and 2004 elections, the number of cases of vote tampering, voter intimidation, violent and semi-violent crimes, including criminal mischief (slashing voter-commuter vans’ tires, etc.), nonviolent felonies (Breaking and entering, theft of property) and violent felonies (discharging a firearm into an election headquarters office), was far and away higher coming from the left side of the spectrum. In fact, as far as the record goes, I’m not aware of a single case being charged against conservative activists at all.
If I missed some, feel free to point them out- but even if you do manage to dig one up, you’ll have to bulldoze your way through a mountain of them committed by lefties, first, I guarantee.

Then there’s the “hacktivists”, which are more closely related to the little gnats buzzing around para and lee’s e-mail accounts right now… though, granted, on a different scale, entirely.

Take, for example, Mr. Jeremy Hammond.

For those not familiar with the name, Jeremy is a left-wing programmer/hacker/activist who is closely connected to many leftist/anarchist sites and causes.

So what did he do? Well, I’ll let ProtestWarrior.com tell you;

In January 2005, Jeremy Hammond and the hacker group collectively known as the “Internet Liberation Front” gained illegal access to the ProtestWarrior server. Thousands of customer credit card numbers were then stolen for the purpose of making millions of dollars in donations to various leftwing organizations. In early February, ProtestWarrior discovered the illegal breach and the identity of the criminals responsible.

Using the hacker recruiting ground www.hackthissite.org, Jeremy Hammond put together and led a team of politically motivated “hacktivists” to probe the ProtestWarrior server for months until an exploit was found. When an obscure vulnerability was discovered in the PW server’s newsletter subscription code, they managed to upload malicious files that gave them the ability to execute commands on the server.

Upon discovering the hack, we immediately began collecting information on the breach and managed to penetrate Jeremy’s inner circle. We then collected evidence that more than 5,000 credit card numbers had been stolen by Jeremy and the “Internet Liberation Front” and that they were planning on doing the following:

*charge hundreds of dollars per stolen credit card number as donations to various left-wing organizations by using an automated donation submission script

*send the entire ProtestWarrior HQ database (complete with usernames, passwords, and operation details) to left-wing groups hostile to ProtestWarrior (including the entire contents of our mail server)

*upload all credit card numbers and other sensitive customer information to hundreds of anarchist and left-wing sites (specifically Indymedia) as a downloadable zip file

*anonymously send press releases and material to thousands of media contacts to boast of the malicious hack and the millions of dollars defrauded, and to publish any and all sensitive information regarding the ProtestWarrior organization

*erase the entire PW server

*launch simultaneous attacks on other conservative sites

Upon discovering their plans, we contacted the FBI and the Secret Service, who immediately launched an investigation. We were able to provide them with a tremendous amount of evidence regarding the breach, the criminals responsible, and their plans to commit massive credit card fraud. We also reported the incident to all credit card companies involved to make sure that ProtestWarrior’s customers were protected. With our help, the FBI was able to thwart Jeremy and his army of “hacktivists”.

After contacting the FBI, we immediately hired a security consultant and removed all sensitive information from the server. We eventually moved the server to a new box, where we blocked off the system and data files from the web server and changed the online store software to a super-secure system that stores zero sensitive customer information. In addition, we hired an internet security firm to run a series of vigorous vulnerability tests on our server, which our server all passed.

The reason we haven’t made this announcement earlier is that our customers were already protected and we didn’t want to jeopardize the ongoing FBI investigation of Jeremy and his “hacktivist” army.

For the record, this kind of thing happens fairly often. Hammond isn’t the only one, by a longshot.

Yet, strangely, leftist hacktivists have been the only ones to ever get caught doing anything that was actually illegal. To date, the few and far-between conservatives who practice hacktivism have limited themselves to minor annoyances like spam and changing site texts.

So sorry… but no… the two sides of the spectrum are most certainly not directly comparable.

See my recent posts on the Deetroit elections, specifically the upcoming mayoral election, which oddly enough is incumbant democrat thug/dictator vs. democrat hopeful.  It’s funny that no democrats came forward with this info during the 2004 presidential race:

I hope this isnt a justification for the left to do these things....thats a terible approach.

According to that link, that there are 380,000 fraudulent ballots in Michigan, and if it can be proven that they were used but 2 years ago for the Michigan elelction, then President Bush won the state of Michigan by 210,000 votes.

That does make a lot of sense, seeing as how only two counties were strongly Democratic (both make up Detroit):

My RSS showed a new post from Para (natch I was excited) at his blog, so I cruised over to find Artmonkey’s post on Air America.  What was interesting was the fact there were 123 trackbacks.  Upon closer examination, all of those trackbacks were to spamhosts.

*scratches head*

I’m thinking this is the same moron who tried signing Lee up for ultra-cool deals that he’d be stupid to pass up, including a chance to make millions from an exiled Nigerian preacher/prince.

For the record, I had nothing to do with it!

Actually, I’m kind of surprised my post is still up there.
It’s been a while.

It certainly isn’t, I don’t see why you should think it is.
I acknowledge that the people who do this are stupid, and I call them fools be they left or right leaning.

I hope this isn’t an attempt by you to suggest all leftys support this kind of thing?

Or at the very least, they all try to divert the subject to “But YOUR SIDE DOES IT TOOOOOO!”
Whichever. n.n

Not at all,...And youre right, anyone who pulls something like that is stpid.

As i read your sentace, the attempt to bring up the statement “for every left wing fool putting your email on something there is probably a rightwing fool doing the same for some lefty blogger.” just seemed like a well we do it, and you must do it, so you cant be upset. Kinda sounds like a justification.  But obviously i didnt fully understand what you were getting at.

More or less, this act is stupid, as it is for anyone who does it

Tripper, no, I don’t believe that at all. I don’t think you’ll find much of any behaviour, good or bad, thateveryone in either party agrees with.

I would make a suggestion, though; Even though you may not agree with conservatives, politically, you may want to learn at least one lesson from us.
That lesson being the art of self-policing.

If you truly pay attention, I think you’ll be forced to agree that, more often than not, conservatives are the first to denounce one of our own for bad behaviour. We don’t wait for the other side to do it for us, or justify it, or usually even say something remotely sounding like a justification like “you do it, too.”.

Conservatives are generally at the front of the line, saying “Now that guy is an asshole.”

Take Tom DeLay for example. The reason the left set their attack dogs on him so viciously, was because they saw rumblings within the GOP about his behaviour. They weren’t the first to point it out.

I’m not saying that you personally are making an excuse.
I’m just saying, maybe if those on the left in general practiced this more often, rather than making excuses, distractions, or inapplicable exercises in ethical relativism, they might be taken more seriously when they try pointing fingers at someone else.

Something to think about, if they truly want to be able to work together to get things done in this country, instead of fighting a never-ending ideological war.

Posted by artmonkey  on  11/03/2005  at  05:31 PM (Link to this comment | )

I forgot to add, too;

The fact that conservatives do practice self-policing more often than liberals might just be why we have such fewer occurrances of this sort of thing than the left does.

Because, as I’ve said, the vast majority of this kind of behaviour can, undeniably, be traced back to liberal “activists”.
