Help me help 23.6 million people
I really should have posted this sooner, but school kicked my butt this semester, and this week I have been on crutches & crying thanks to a perfect storm of gout-inducing circumstances. OWW. So I actually sort of forgot about getting the word out...and that makes me a terrible human being to be sure, but…
...I’m here now, blegging for your assistance. On June 13th I’m riding the Tour de Cure, a charity bike ride to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association. I know, these charities have huge overhead, but diabetes doesn’t have a lot of directly-donatable charities, and more people are getting this - especially children. Did you know they no longer call Type 2 “adult-onset diabetes?” Because the largest growing segment that gets it? Kids. Kids are getting a disease that used to afflict mainly the elderly, then fat middle-aged people, and now, thanks to a combination of flat-out evil behavior from food companies and utter laziness coupled with a lack of effort on the parts of parents everywhere...kids are getting “adult onset” diabetes as early as 8 or 9 years old. Just imagine what that means, what you have to feed a child in order to create a disease state that shouldn’t happen to them for another 40 years.
Part of the effort to combat this trend is education (both parents and children), and that costs money, and that is where the American Diabetes Association can be useful. SO...go here: http://main.diabetes.org/goto/stark23x. Donate. Sponsor my (still fat but shrinking every day) ass to chug along the roads of North Haven, CT in support of helping not the fat middle-aged dude who eats nothing but King-Size Reese’s and KFC twice a day and can’t figure out why he’s 350 lbs. and his blood sugar is all over the road, but for the child of that parent who doesn’t know that what the kid is being given to eat is going to put them in the ground at an early age.
http://main.diabetes.org/goto/stark23x. Right now my class’s team is signed up for the 25K. I should tell you now, that is NOT a challenge for me. However, if I raise $250, I will ride it twice, even if no one else from my team joins me. 50K is a bit of a challenge, but here’s the kicker. $500 and I’ll ride it three times. 75K will literally chap my ass, and I do mean literally. So if you despise me, here’s your chance to make me suffer. The more you give, the more pain I will be in on June 13th. :)

I have a question for you sir. To my understanding ths website is to use slander against a man whom you apparently don’t like, correct? Well in the confirmation letter that I have recieved it says: WARNING: If you’ve registered to this site with the intent of creating
chaos, personally attacking the writers or being generally obnoxious, you
will most likely be banned without warning very quickly. Please try to act
with as much dignity and respect as you would if you were walking into our
living room and having a cup of coffee and a nice chat.
But the whole point to this website is to give off your own personal opinion. Is it not hypocritical to tell people like me to be respectful towards people like you, but yet you are very disrespectful to this one man that you contribute your whole life towards, right?? I don’t mean to sound ignorant, arrogant, or direspectful in anyway towards you or anyone else, but I really do need a little more insight on what your cause truly is in order to understand how & why you feel this way to this man in paticular. P.S it’s in the amendment that I could talk about any public personal in any way i please, so by you sending people warnings and eventually shutting everyone down, is aganst our amendment/rights, so why do you do it??
Addri5, please go read the Constitution again—the freedom of speech is protected against GOVERNMENT intervention. It has nothing to do with personal conversations, websites, etc.
ya i also think and totally agree with the above comment.

I would like to make one point in defence of today’s parents whose kids have become couch potatoes: Fifty years ago, my parents thought nothing of allowing me to leave the house early in the morning and not coming home again until dinner time or sunset. What I did during those hours didn’t concern them. Today’s parents have been told and retold that if their kids are out of eyeshot for two seconds, they are guilty of negligence at the very least, and most likely child abuse. Today’s parents aren’t even allowed to let the kids play in their own yards without the parents’ physical presence. The easiest way to keep a kid under constant surveillance is to allow the kid unfettered use of the TV, video games and computer. That way, the parent can still do laundry, fix supper and clean house while making sure the kid is constantly in view.
My name is Jessie and I come from Québec, Canada. First, I need to excuse myself for my approximate english… My first language is french.
I only want to react about our medecine system, you know, the one you call socialist. Well, you know, it’s not perfect. I was one of the people who had the habbit to talk against our health system before. Then, I saw this film of Michael Moore about the health system in United States… and I felt bad about myself...You know, about what I have. I didn’t realised before this movie that...hell, whe are good in Canada about this health stuff ! Maybe that sometimes, if I have to go to the hospital, I can wait 5 hour but you know, I don’t pay...nothing. In fact, yes, I pay, but with taxes. I’m a young woman of 25 years old. I go to school so I don’t really have a lot of money, but this money is taken little by little. If I go to the grocery and I buy food for 100$, it will cost me 113$ including taxes. But with these taxes, the government pay a lot of thing ! School, hospital, medicament, etc… We are so used to pay 13 % of taxes on wathever we buy that we even not see it right now.
I think that Michael Moore is not perfect. I’m not. But I understood something in this film, sicko… He is not a bad person, like I’m sure you are not. He saw some things in his country that he don’t understand and he denounces it. Maybe he does not have the perfect answer for this big problem in your country, but at least he tried to inform people and this is a good thing, no? Your country, as big and rich than he is, should take care of his citizens ! You should have this universal right ! It’s sad to see so many people with no money that can’t afford the cost of their health.
Hey, don’t waste the time of your life to talk against this ‘’fat bastard’’. Waste it to love your wife and family and to try to change what you don’t like in your country ! You spend so much energy to destroy Michael Moore ! Aren’t you tired sometimes to find new reasons to affirm he’s stupid ? I think you did your point on your website… Now, do something more constructive if you want that your life quality improve ! No ?
Sincerely
