I’ll Tell You Why
I just received a polite email from a reader named Nicole, entitled simply “Why?”
You seem to really hate Michael Moore, for reasons that aren’t evident on moorewatch.com. So my question to you is, why?
My response.
You obviously haven’t read the blog much. We don’t “hate” Michael Moore. I think he’s a scumbag, and I think he’s wrong on virtually everything. That being said, Moorewatch is a repository of information that rebuts Michael Moore’s bullshit. God knows nobody in the media will ever question anything he says, so we assumed this task ourselves.
When he says that socialized medicine is a wonderful thing, and Cuba is a paradise of free medicine, we provide hard, factual evidence that he’s lying out his ass.
It’s got nothing to do with hate, and everything to do with showing the world what a vulgar liar he is.
Seriously, read the blog. Learn something. For example, if you believe in fabulous government-run “free” healthcare for everyone you should at least have the intellectual honesty to be able to defend that position. I disagree with Moore and I can tell you exactly why, and can provide copious amounts of information in support of what I believe. If you disagree, fine, that’s a perfectly legitimate thing to do. But you should be able to provide an honest, intellectual rebuttal to what we’ve posted. And if you can’t, do a little soul-searching and ask yourself why.
Hate has nothing to do with it, Nicole. Keep an open mind. All the best.
I always wonder why so many people attribute what we do on this site to hatred of Michael Moore, when I think that even a cursory reading of the site would show that, while we clearly dislike the man, we’re making a sincere effort to be a counterweight to his lies, distortions, and general bullshit.
(Note: Polite emails get the author’s identity protected. People who write idiotic hate mail will be posted with full information so the rest of the world can make fun of them too.)

Projection.... they hate the other side.
Well. I hate him. I admit that.
But I’m not Moorewatch, I just comment here.
You know what? I’d like to know why we feel the need to defend against this thought, personally.
Maybe some of us don’t hate Moore. Maybe some of us do.
...and?
I mean, let’s be brutally honest, here. When, exactly, did hate become automatically wrong? If a thing, act or even a person is vile, irresponsible and generally harmful to society, then why is it necessarily wrong to hate them, or at least what they do?
I hear no apologies from the left for claiming rabid hatred of Bush, Republicans in general or anything or anyone even a little bit right of… well, the extreme left.
No, they revel in their hate, and wear it like a goddamned Prada belt. They hold it high on badly written handheld protest signs and flash it in your face like a freakin’ Harvard degree.
And, let’s be honest… most of their hatred is based solely on knee-jerk, sheep-think. Hell, at least we can demonstrate our reasons pretty damned clearly.
So screw them, frankly. I do not apologize for hating Moore any more than I do for my hatred of Osama Bin Laden, pedophiles, Fidel Castro, Hitler or Ted Kennedy.
Hate can be destructive if you let it consume you, or if it is not properly directed by righteousness and reason. When it is tempered by these things, however, it can be the sword of justice… or at least the stone that sharpens it.
So if I may answer Nicole myself…
Yes, I hate Michael Moore. Why? Because I am a human being who cares for his fellow man, and has the capacity to think for himself. And in the end, that’s all that’s needed to find a burning anger in your heart for that man and virtually everything he believes.
Bravo, artmonkey. Nicely put.
The reason people think we hate him is because the people who LIKE Michael Moore (liberals) can only see things that way.
If someone disagrees with you, they obviously hate you.
If someone says what you believe is wrong, they obviously hate you.
If someone takes the time to point out your inaccuracies, they obviously hate you.
See, their definitions are all off. They can only see things in terms of love and hate. If you do not LOVE them and TOLERATE them (which is to accept them as they are and never question anything they say or do), well then CLEARLY you must hate them.
