What’s a little lie in service of…uhh…fame, I guess.
So, Mother Peace is not just delusional, attention-starved, smug, ill-tempered, an absentee mother, a lover of the limelight and a whole host of other things, but she’s also a liar.
McCain said he had agreed to meet with Sheehan because he believed she was coming with a group of Arizona constituents.
But on Tuesday, the only Arizonan in her small group was her congressional liaison, who grew up in Sedona but moved away when he went to college.
”It was a misrepresentation,” McCain said afterward. Asked if he would have met with her if he had known she was not with constituents, he said: “I may not have.”
Yeah...she’s all about the peace and stuff. Casey who?

Comments
Hey, whatever it takes to keep Casey Sheehan’s mother in the news, right?
Think he was pissed about being called a “warmonger”?
You betcha!
but to hear that instead it was because he was under the assumption that he would be speaking to potential voters is a tiny bit disappointing.
If I were a resident of Arizona, I would be upset that my senator took time to talk to a non-constituent as opposed to helping the people of Arizona. He doesn’t represent Sheehan. He represents the people of Arizona.
In all fairness McCain is enough of a liar; that I don’t think we can take his statements to the bank.

I suggest a pool:
What KA-RAZY antic does Casey’s mom pull next to regain the spotlight?
At first blush, I’d say assault, but I’m not sure that she’s quite redy to play that card. My bet is on vandalism.

An exclusive interview for al Jazeera ... or a suicide bombing.

Next gig for Casey Sheehan’s mother--
returning guest on Air America, or guest host when Randi Rhodes goes on vacation, or when Al Franken goes on vacation to sign important documents without reading them, or when Janeane Garofolo gets crushed by her ever-increasing tinfoil hat…
Wow, if I had known I could make a point with only three words, I wouldn’t have bothered with all that explaining my point and linking my sources and clarifying my position crap.
/sarcasm
Mike, I think you are speaking to this issue, no?
I do not personally consider this issue on par with her lies at all and I am not interested in debating the difference in this particular thread.
Cindy has been caught stating flasehoods whever it is required to fit her own agenda. She is a deaf drum beater. Just pounding out so many eratic statement, I doubt she even hears herself. You know she is not truthful in thie case, because what would she gain by saying McCain was honest and appreciated the visit? Nothing. She says what “HER JOB” requires her to say.
Gun Show Loophole
!?
That’s it? Three frigging words?
Does that mean I get to offer my proof that Hillary Clinton is a murderer by saying “Fort Marcy Park”?
Or that John Kerry is a communist: “War Remnants Museum”?
C’mon, you know better than that.

I never thought anything could frighten me more than listening to these jagoffs. Then Randi Rhodes went on vacation about a month ago. The guy subbing for her actually said he wants all Republicans to die. No joke.
I have of course submitted to her msg board a list of lies about Katrina that she needs to stop repeating, but I expect those to be ignored.
People like this make me sorry that I even give them the benefit of the doubt and hear their side. All it does is give relevance to the Communists (who deserve none) that support them logistically.
I just wish the Republicans would get back to the “Contract with America” type stuff that got the country behind them in the first place, and which propped up Clinton’s second term (tax cuts, welfare reform, small business initiatives, sound familiar?)

You have to give her credit, she doesn’t do anything halfway. She was floating the “200,000 dead Iraqis” number long ago, while many liberal pundits are still stuck on only “100,000” dead. They need to catch up with the hysteria.
Do you have some examples of his lies?
Gun Show Loophole.
How can an opinion be a lie? Are you saying he gave his opinion, but it wasn’t really his own opinion?
Radicals have never let the truth or morality stop them before...why is anyone shocked that wankers like Casey Sheehan’s mom, Randi Rhodes / Err America would do the same. T
hey are the ultimate hypocrites in that the freedom of speech and expression they so clearly cling to is the one thing they want nobody (who is contrary to them) to have.
Randi Rhodes is nuts. Flatout. Constant conspiracy theories constitute about half of her show. The other half is spent in direct opposition to the previous by talking about how dumb and greedy republicans are. Bush is an evil genious vs a mentally challenged monkey. She can’t make up her mind. My favorite thing to do (for a very, very short time) was to scribble down references she made on her show while I worked and listened to the net feed during the day. Then, at night, I would look it all up.
Suprise! It was always like Al Franken and Michael Moore. The information provided always had a tiny amount of truth with a huge piece of the story missing. Never an attempt to shed light on anything that could distract from the main plan.
I hate pundits on both sides of the isle, but I heard Limbaugh talking the other day about the libs constant assault on Bush being a liability to them in 06 and 08 since he can’t run obviously. I can see that. They cling to Cindy Sheehan and she would not and could not ever utter anything not negative against Bush. About anything. That sort of fanatic fixation can’t be helpful since his re-election.
I had to stifle myself when I read the comment from Cindy Sleazehan that she shouldn’t really be held to any logical standard concerning her comments about the war in Iraq because she speaks from the heart and that makes anything she says OK as in Maureen Dowd’s ridiculous “ultimate moral authority” charade. All that is paraphrased but fairly accurate I think.OMG absolutely frightening.

Amen. The Contract with America, though, was mostly torpedoes by old Republicans who didn’t like the term-limits thing.
I think we are in desperate need of term limits. How many terms has Teddy Kennedy been a senator? Patrick Leahy? John Kerry? Dick Durbin? Dianne Fienstein? Barbara Boxer? It’s true on the Republican side, too. Trent Lott, John McCain, Orin Hatch, Chuck Hagel-- all 3rd term or more Senators.
The face of the Senate would be very different today if we weren’t forced to abide by MA reelecting John Kerry and Teddy Kennedy all the flippin’ time.
That way we’d have a host of “lame duck” senators, and there’d be a sense of urgency to get things done in the Senate.
Amen. The Contract with America, though, was mostly torpedoes by old Republicans who didn’t like the term-limits thing.
What’s nice, though, is that several Republicans from that era who agreed to term limits in principle left office voluntarily at the end of a self-imposed limited term of service.
I wish they would have stuck to balanced budgeting though :(
Dianne Fienstein? Barbara Boxer?
I would *SO* love to see them go away. California is geographically a great place to live, but politically it’s a nightmare. If we could even get just ONE of them out of office, I’d be a happy man.
but to hear that instead it was because he was under the assumption that he would be speaking to potential voters is a tiny bit disappointing.
Just my opinion, but I didnt see it that way. As a public servant, McCain’s first priority must be his constituents since they are the ones who hired him in the first place. I would be more disappointed if he had been like so many of the liberal politicos and gave preference to Sheehan because of her “celebrity” while ignoring his constituents.
I’d like to change my prediction. After reading this, I suspect that Casey’s mom will either resort to insurance fraud or petit larceny.
After all, Someone has to pay the bills.
I was particularly incensed by her reasoning for doing so.. See if you can find the sentance that was so infuriating.
- iirightii
I could be wrong since this was a student comment, but was this it?
Andrea’s friend, Megan Hanford, said it makes sense that Sheehan would start charging for appearances. “She can’t work while she’s traveling the country,” Hanford said, “and she’s lost any income that her son might have brought her.”
University of Maryland English professor Marilee Lindemann said she fully supports Sheehan making money from her speaking engagements. “She’s given extraordinarily of herself, of her time,” she said, “and I will point out that she sacrificed her child in service to this country.”
My God.
She said her contract with Speaking Matters, which has not yet disclosed how much a Sheehan appearance will cost, will help her “finally make some money ...’cause Casey’s insurance money’s going to run out pretty soon.”
=o
She didn’t sacrifice her child. In fact, she tried very very hard not to sacrifice her child. And she’s trying very hard to not let anyone else sacrifice their children. And in service to this country? My oh my, what a noble cause.
Difficult, huhn?
Think “multiple choice test” :-)

I have a question for anyone who can answer . . . did Sheehan have a job before Casey was killed? Just curious.
I have a question for anyone who can answer . . . did Sheehan have a job before Casey was killed? Just curious.
If I recall, she had a government-related job—a new job, I think. She was let go because she spent too much time “mourning.” Others might be picky and say she quit by not showing up. Either way, same reason, same result.
Regardless of what you think of Sheehan, Moore and people expressing views like theirs, regardless of whether their reasons for pushing the case for US troops to leave have any validity, the fact is the US troops haven’t managed to do any good there and the only practical thing they can do to improve things is leave. The British troops have only been marginally better. After the elections they should be sent home.
How long are you going to hold on to the illusion that the truth could be anything different? Every day it just gets worse and worse right in front of the worlds eyes and yet people still say Iraq is better off with the continuing occupation. The troops struggle just to look after themselves. Wake up.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN)—A string of car bombs exploded Thursday in the Iraqi city of Balad, killing at least 62 people and wounding more than 70 others, a police official in Tikrit told CNN.
...
Earlier, the U.S. Marines reported that five U.S. Army soldiers were killed Wednesday in Ramadi by a roadside bomb.
....
In Iraq Thursday, gunmen killed at least nine Iraqis, including four police officers, and wounded 11, police said.Attackers opened fire on a carload of teachers near Baquba, killing one of them. The three other teachers in the car survived the attack.
The incident occurred a few days after insurgents dressed as police shot and killed six teachers at an elementary school in Babil province, south of Baghdad.
Two high-ranking police officials from the town of Balad were shot dead Thursday in a drive-by shooting in Jami’a neighborhood of western Baghdad, police said.
Attackers targeted a police patrol in the Jihad neighborhood in western Baghdad, killing two police officers and wounding three others.
A separate attack on a minibus in the Mushtal neighborhood of southeastern Baghdad killed two employees of al-Shaab International Stadium and wounded seven others.
Two people were killed and third was wounded when gunmen opened fire at al-Mustafa bakery in the Dora area in the southern Baghdad.
the fact is the US troops haven’t managed to do any good there
Saddam is gone. I guess that’s not good.
13 out of 16 provinces are now peaceful. I guess that’s not good.
Iraqis voted in their first free election in ages. I guess that’s not good.
Nope. Nothing good.
Regardless of what you think of Sheehan, Moore and people expressing views like theirs, regardless of whether their reasons for pushing the case for US troops to leave have any validity, the fact is the US troops haven’t managed to do any good there and the only practical thing they can do to improve things is leave.
Thats a fact? What is your definition of fact? What is your definition of a “good” thing?
So the first democratic elections Iraq has had in almost it’s entire history isn’t a good thing? Women having far more rights because of our liberation effort isn’t a good thing? Saddam not being in power isn’t a good thing? To you those things are not good?
The British troops have only been marginally better. After the elections they should be sent home.
How long are you going to hold on to the illusion that the truth could be anything different? Every day it just gets worse and worse right in front of the worlds eyes and yet people still say Iraq is better off with the continuing occupation. The troops struggle just to look after themselves. According to who’s perception are things becoming worse and worse? Yours? By my perception things might be going worse than planned but far better than if Saddam were in power, at least that is my personal opinion. Do you hate it that people share my perception and not yours?
Commence the ad hominems(sp)?
I’m SHOCKED!
The only thing that happened today in the ENTIRE country of Iraq was a series of car bombings?
Not one of the 26,074,846 people in the entire 437,072 sq/km of Iraq did anything but sit around and waited for the bombs to go off, before returning to their otherwise un-reported lives.
Of course, no clean water or electricity, or medical care, or help rebuilding the infrastructure went on today! It’s car-bomb-Thursday, for goodness’ sake.
Do you not read the reports of the tremendous good that is being done in that country? (I’ll admit that you have to scratch the MSM surface to find these reports, but then again, look at the filter that information is passing through). Do you not see Iraqis looking forward to a future of Freedom and Democracy? Do you not see people there with a desire to rule their OWN country, as well as personal destinies?
Or maybe you do and you just ignore it because it conflicts with your pat, spoon-fed, self-congratulatory world-view.
Or do you not think that those are good things?
Or perhaps you don’t think that Iraqi’s deserve that future? Or maybe you think that they can’t handle them; being that collectively, Arabs thrive under oppression. Just like the Russian peasant needed the Tsars, and after them the Bolsheviks?
Or perhaps you’re an absolutist, you know, the kind of person that believes that we can’t accomplish the mission unless we can right every single goddamned wrong in the world. If you can’t fix everything you might as well not even try. People like that aren’t quitters, they’re non-starters.
Or perhaps it’s deeper than that. Do you labor under the misapprehension that by selfishly closing ourselves off from the rest of the world, things will magically improve? Do you really think that appeasement is a valid political course? Can you show me ONE CASE IN HISTORY, where acceding to the enemy has resulted in anything short of unbridled violence and mind-numbing suffering in the long term?
You schmuck. You probably believe in the inherent goodness of man.
Lemme tell you something, son (and I ain’t calling you that ‘cause you’re bright); this world is full of wolves. There’s someone out there right now sharpening his or her fangs, looking you over like a plump little sheep. Are you willing to walk into that den and offer your throat in the name of “peace”?
Or will you cry like a little bitch and piss yourself?
I thought so. One day the righteous and the strong are going to stop coming to the aid of the self-important weak. Mostly because we’ll be tired of your whining, crabbing and back-biting, and it’d just be quieter to just let you die.

Which, of course, never existed and was all hype and hysteria designed by marketers and the anti-gun left. There was and is no more a loophole at a gun show than there is in any other location, storefront or driveway, where firearms are legally bought and sold.

Is that killed or died? Name your source plase, via a URL if you would be so kind.
Depending on how the number is generated, there is a big difference on how bad that statement might be.
I also read that Cindy Sleazehan said she was worried that when she was arrested someone would see her panties. My God what an idiot. That’s an image I want to get out of my mind.

Cindy Sheehan do or say somehting without thinking of the ramifications...shocking. I guess the plus is she was (allegedly) wearing panties...I do not think anyone would have wanted to see her give the world a beaver shot.:)

Apparently these people were killed during violence. I didn’t mean to imply americans killed them. But the implication hangs heavy that they died despite 130,000 US troops being there to protect their rights to freedom and democracy.
EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s take a look at some other statistics
The actual lose of life in this war has been by far insignificant when compared to WWI, WWII, and Vietnam. I really think that the “low number” of lost lives shows that we are doing a decent job. People die in war, that is part of the reality.
Sadaam was a bastard and that fact that he is gone is good. We don’t need to substantiate that other than with facts, such as he killed entire towns for tyrannical purposes. If you actually knew any of the facts about Sadaam, his sons, and his regieme you would know that; but alas it appears you do not. As for the cost of the war, has the cost effected you personally in any way? Has the economy not been strengthening (before natural disasters)? Have taxes been raised? I understand that the deficit is growing, but it has been for many years now (it was here before Bush I). Fact of the matter is the deficit is internal debt, we do not owe any body else (which I have never quite understood...I owe myself lots of money). So what point are you trying to make?
Where’s the SaddamEraIraqBodyCount? Oh wait, only the ones that died AFTER we got him are important. My bad.
Ronnie - I typed to quickly while trying to make a point. They have done good.
It cost a lot.
I think the time has come where less people will die if the troops leave.
I was hoping that Sen.McCain would talk to her just to try to understand her nutbag sense of perception, but to hear that instead it was because he was under the assumption that he would be speaking to potential voters is a tiny bit disappointing. As limelight a figure as he is, I’m sure that he knows that both left and right watch his nearly every move, especially after his behavior during the prisoner torture ridiculousness (sp?). Maybe I’m just disappointed that he has not proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he doesn’t “go both ways in DC”.
