Is there anybody…out there?
So, it turns out that no one gives a shit about Moore’s new movie. Wanna know my evidence for such a strong statement?
NO ONE HAS PIRATED IT.
Seriously. I checked all my usual haunts, and no one has bothered to steal this film. No one has taken a camera into a theater. No one stole a review copy or anything.
To illustrate how sad this is, you can usually download the newest episodes of say, Two and a Half Men within an hour of broadcast. That Wolverine movie was a travesty by all reports and that thing was stolen as an unfinished workprint! The worst crap coming out of Hollywood usually hits torrent sites weeks before release, and at the worst the day after release as soon as the videotapers are done. And yet...nothing.
Torrent activity is one of the truest measures of an entertainment property’s popularity. There is literally zero interest in Capitalism; A Love Story. The people have spoken, Mikey. Democratically. And they vote that your fifteen minutes? All gone go bye-bye.
That’s gotta hurt.

Well, as of the original time stamp on this post not one torrent was available on any public tracker. None. Zero. Nada.
If you can show me one that is out now, I’ll gladly update the main post with a link. I roll like that, as Lionsgate will tell you. :)
I think people have gotten “Sicko” of “Moore-on”,
After he has been debunked by so many sources about how his so-called “documentaries” are full of nothing but horse excrement, all but the hardest core libs have even abandoned him. Plus, the fact that in his latest film he bites the hand that feeds him and pees in his own room. Also, Jim, see how many talk shows he gets invited to now. It’ll either be nil or a lot as he desperately tries to get people to pay to watch him try to feed us garbage, again. Sorry, Bubba, no takers this time. I do want to see this movie just because I need a laugh, I’ll wait until it hits the special bin at Blockbuster.
Only trouble, Jim, if this film does so poorly he quits making movies, what are you gonna do? Don’t you want this to be somewhat successful or you may loose the purpose of this website?
So, let me try and wrap my little brain around this profound argument being made here. All of the crappy movies get pirated, this didn’t get pirated, so it must suck? Ok, i guess that’s a fair argument. Um, so by that rationale, the sun came up today, so it won’t come up tomorrow, that makes about as much sense. I get that you don’t like Moore, and you’re more than entitled to your opinion, but if you’re going to hate on someone, please make your arguments make sense. And why do you guys always go to Libs, and Conservatives when it comes to liking/disliking something. Just because you enjoy something, or don’t, doesn’t define your political philosophy. If I like shooting guns, and smoking weed, going to church, and free health care, what would that make me? You guys need to get over yourselves, seriously!
All of the crappy movies get pirated, this didn’t get pirated, so it must suck?
I don’t think he said that. His theory is that no one seems to be interested in the movie because it has not been pirated yet. He just used other movies and sic-coms that are not the greatest as an example of them being out there, but not MM’s new movie.
And other evidence that most people do not really care to watch this movie is the box office reciepts over the weekend. The movie made about 5.5 mil in about 970 location. Sicko made 4.5-4.7 mil in first weekend, but that was in only 400-420 theatres.
They are saying they released wide to early, but you can expect the movie to start dropping every weekend and probably make less money that Sicko did domestically.
This is why president Obama got elected, and why people support the ideas defended by Michael Moore; because these petty arguments and the usual name calling (moore-ons) are all you people can usually come up with. In case you’re interested to look out a little bit farther than your own overgrown nose, you’ll not only find that people are actually watching this movie and literally clapping their hands together for mike, but that it’s already been pirated as well. I should know since I wanted to buy a copy but it was still a low quality recording.
Heck, if you guys want this country to keep on being run by a corporation and find yourselves in ruins not long from now, then be my guest as I got fed up and moved out in 2005. It’s very disappointing to find that even though we know what the problem is, it is the very victims of the system who keep on defending it. Most likely the situation will worsen until the middle class finally ceases to exist, hats of to all the greedy corporate assholes who never realized they were killing the hen laying the golden eggs, and the fanatic trolls who defended them and accused everyone who thought differently of being un-american.
Thank you, Nal_gA, for the petty argument and the usual name calling.
Nal_gA, just some food for thought, moore hired non-union workers to work on Capitalism and he didn’t offer them health care insurance. Over the years I’ve worked for three large corporations and every one of them has offered me health and life insurance. In fact, not one of them made me pay for the life insurance. You might consider reading this little ditty about your hero:
Nal_gA:
I think you’re missing the point here. In “Capitalism”, Moore champions democracy and the public vote as the highest ideal. Deciding what movie you are going to see and spend your money on is a rather democratic practice. People look through the cinematic choices, make a somewhat informed decision, and then go and see the movie of their choice. That’s about as democratic a decision as one can make.
Democratically, the people are speaking in volumes about “Capitalism”. They are choosing NOT to go and see it. They are choosing other films to spend their hard-earned money on and not going to see Moore’s newest opus. The fact that it only took in $5 million or so in nearly 1000 theaters is actually rather shocking considering how well Moore’s movies have opened in the past. The people have spoken - they don’t care.
Further evidence that they don’t care about Moore’s new movie is that, on line, you cannot find a single copy of it. When the most unpopular movies and TV shows have massive torrents and Moore doesn’t even have *one*, that says something. It says, once again, people don’t care. They don’t care about this movie or this message. Why they don’t care is yet to be determined but these numbers and facts don’t lie.
Now, of course there are going to be people clapping and cheering at this movie. There are also going to be people loudly booing and hissing. But those things aren’t a measure of democratic choice. Those people represent the two extremes Moore often trumpets about. But the people in the middle, Moore’s people, the ones he claims he speaks for? They aren’t listening. They aren’t following. And they certainly are neither paying for nor pirating this film.
That’s the point of this post. I hope I’ve clarified it for you.
DonnaK:
The main argument of the post by JimK I believe is “No one gives a shit about Moore’s new movie” which is a vast understatement for such a controversial movie. Sure, you probably won’t find torrents for it as I’m sure you wouldn’t find torrents for any other movies from independent filmmakers out there. However going as far as claiming that “No one has pirated it yet” isn’t really true, as I have already seen the low quality pirate dvd of the movie (filmed in theatre).
Now, what you say about people in the US not giving a damn, that is completely true. If people in America cared more about their country and took mind of the direction in which it has been going for the past decades, then I would still be living there. However people in the USA, the biggest oligarchy ever conceived, either don’t want to be bothered to use their brains, or they actually think they’d be worse off if they started regulating the economy.
It is more than infuriating to see all these people bash Obama when he’s barely been 8 months in office, even though they would troll you and accuse you of being UN-AMERICAN if you spoke bad about George W. Bush (the worst president America’s had by far). I really don’t think people will ever abandon their arrogant attitude and realize they’re sailing on a ship that is full of leaks, and sinking in the vast ocean. It is disheartening to stumble across sites like these that support failed economic policies and bash whoever tries to promote change for the better.
Miss our 4:20 break today, did we, Nal_gA?
Nal_gA:
1) You state you “believe” that you understand the main argument of the post made by my husband. The fact that you have ignored my explanation of said point to you and that you continue to argue straw men instead of facts shows your belief to be falsely based.
2) To restate plainly, what Jim is saying is that interest in Moore’s new movie is rather staggeringly low. It is low enough that it is impossible for us to find a copy of the movie leaked onto the Net anywhere.
3) No one has stated that no pirated copies exist, and certainly no one has stated that hard pirated copies of “Capitalism” don’t exist. What Jim has stated - and what remains true - is that despite our best possible efforts, which are considerable, we cannot find one trace of this movie on the Net. Given how prevalent movie piracy is this is extremely telling and speaks to the lack of interest in this film by the general public.
4) This particular post is not political in nature. It does not espouse views on any side of the political spectrum. Your fervent desire to bring politics into a post that is simply discussing the popularity of Moore’s new movie speaks volumes more about you then it does us.
5) This is not a political site. This is not a right-wing site. The owners and maintainers are not Republican. In fact, until two years ago, I was a registered Democrat. Please do not come here and assume anything about the politics of the owners or authors. For all you know we voted for Obama.
6) To further elucidate, the purpose of this site is not political in nature at all. It is here to question, discuss and refute the facts Michael Moore puts into his movies. It is not a political arena - it is a place to discuss and debunk the art of Michael Moore. To label it as something it is not is discourteous and shows a lack of understanding and knowledge on your part.
Now, after all that, if you have something of substance to say about the ACTUAL point of this post I invite you to do so. Until then, I highly encourage you to read the archives and educate yourself on what it is we do here until you can have a reasoned and rational discussion with us. Thank you.

Doesn’t that mean that there’s little interest from capitalists and socialists? As JimK said earlier, that has got to hurt…
http://www.torrentreactor.net/find/capitalism-a-love-story would this clarify things for you? I hope it does, because I got over 120,000 hits when I searched for his latest movie’s torrent on google.
Nal_gA
If you had bothered to look harder you would have found that all those torrents lead to FAKE versions of the movie. So, sorry, still no leaked copy on the net.
Wow. Some Moore fans are really, really stupid.
P.S. Anyone who knows the first fuck thing about torrents knows TorrentReactor is 99.9765% bullshit fakes. There are really very few reliable public trackers, and two useful mega-trackers. There is no legitimate (ha!) copy of Capitalism: A Love Story available yet on any reliable site, even as of the timestamp on this comment.
Not even a cam shot version. Ouch.
JimK:
I’m downloading it preview and all as we speak, using free download manager. There are many working links out there, I’m sorry to have wasted my time with all of you. I had the slightest hope that you people wouldn’t be as close minded and stupid as the other people I usually encounter in sites like these as your Terms and Conditions sounded promising, warning against trolling and bad behavior. However if the only thing I’ve gotten from you is such a comment, then it’s safe to say that you’re a hypocrite and a blundering idiot. I’m done with this website, good luck on your hate campaign.
You, sir, are a fucking liar. Be that as it may:
Name the two most popular public trackers on the internet.
However if the only thing I’ve gotten from you is such a comment, then it’s safe to say that you’re a hypocrite and a blundering idiot. I’m done with this website, good luck on your hate campaign.
So… you have nothing at all to say to me about any of the very valid, reasonable and rational comments I’ve made to you? Not one thing? You say you’ve gotten “nothing” here. I’ve given you plenty. You are choosing to ignore everything that I and others have said and continue your ignorant biases.
Good luck with that.
I had the slightest hope that you people wouldn’t be as close minded and stupid as the other people I usually encounter in sites like these
I love the “close-minded” comment. It always amounts to someone whining, “Why don’t you believe like I do??”
"Seriously. I checked all my usual haunts, and no one has bothered to steal this film. No one has taken a camera into a theater. No one stole a review copy or anything.” Anyone aware of the current scene knows that cams are pretty rare these days. Shit quality… no reason to even bother due to the quick window with On demand… R5… DVD Screener.... Retail. Cams are a thing of the past.
Yeah, sure, no one bothers with them, they all wait for it to hit DVD, that’s why I saw a Transformers 2 torrent with almost 2000 seeds alone and almost 8000 downloaders the day after it came out in theaters.
Are you a pathological liar, or what?
The people have spoken, Mikey. Democratically. And they vote that your fifteen minutes? All gone go bye-bye.
Now, I don’t consider myself a Michael Moore fan. My family likes him, and I consider myself liberal, but to me he seems just a tad too crazy and insulting (think Bill O’Reilly). However, that comment single-handedly encouraged me to make an account here as I was passing through via some random link on the internet because it’s just so darn funny.
He may not be as popular anymore, but he sure is still famous. You’re posting on a site created and devoted to the doings of Michael Moore. He is basically some sort of idol to this site. Without him, it would not be. He is like your Creator! If you want Michael Moore to die out, you’d just stop paying attention to him completely.
Yup, that pretty much sums it up.You’re posting on a site created and devoted to the doings of Michael Moore. He is basically some sort of idol to this site. Without him, it would not be.
Can you seriously call a 20 year career of film, television, and books, winning Oscars, Palme d’Or, etc. “fifteen minutes”? So glad you got pwned so hard in Sicko. What a loser douche. And they vote that your fifteen minutes? All gone go bye-bye.
Now, I don’t consider myself a Michael Moore fan.
Man, it still tickles the hell out of me every time a Michael Moore fan has to preface themselves with this.
So glad you got pwned so hard in Sicko.
We’d like to thank you for providing the perfect example of people that still believe in Michael Moore.
When I saw the film this weekend, ushers were checking bags for cameras.
I also noticed Facets Multimedia is already taking orders for the DVD.
His films probably open better when there’s a Republican in the White House. People know there will be a $5 copy of the DVD at Walmart pretty quick, so what’s the rush?
Riddle me this.... Why if MM is SOOOOOO against capitalism, is he having dvd “sales” and stopping people from taping his “film”?
Shouldn’t he freely distribute it to the masses so they can all be enlightened by the “truth” that is inherent in his film making?

I just wrote a post about exactly that, Balthazar. Check it out and tell me what you think.
Man, it still tickles the hell out of me every time a Michael Moore fan has to preface themselves with this.
While maybe Michael Moore fans are obligated to use that line, I just do it to give a little background on where I come from. It’s not inclusive that because all Michael Moore fans say it that non-Moore fans don’t say it.
To make it a little more clear, I have seen excerpts of his films (mostly Fahrenheit) several years back in schools and on YouTube. I have never gone to see his films in a theatre, I have never pirated his films, I have never bought his films. I’ve SEEN him, like everyone on this site has, but I don’t seek him. He turns me off.
But if you thinking I’m some sort of Moore fanatic makes it sting less that I pointed out a possible obsession you have with the man, I’ll live with it. For you. I don’t mind.
So glad you got pwned so hard in Sicko.
I have, however, seen that particular clip. And if Moore were really the kind of man he proclaimed to be, he wouldn’t be such a jackass to use someone’s personal vulnerability to mock them publicly. He’d instead use facts and reasons to debunk whatever arguments they pose to him, however valid or invalid they may be. Jackasses are jackasses, I guess.
Y’know, I’ve been pondering exactly what it would mean if Moore were able to put his little thing of “democracy instead of capitalism” into action.
How would you shop for groceries? Would there constantly be a panel of professional jurors sitting at the head of the store, and when you go to check out, you plead your case for why you need each item, and they vote on whether you get it or not?
... How would you pay the jurors?
It’s funny, I stumbled upon this site just to catch some reviews on the Capitalism movie. I read one of the little blurbs & thought I’d throw my 2 cents into the fray… but holy moly what an incredible response I received! Having never been a part of a blog I was amazed to see biases to such a strong degree.
However, even more disturbing is the obvious mischaracterizations that come out of the chief Michael Moore haters - yes, outright haters.
Donna the Yale “deconstructionist” who doesn’t know her backside from a hot rock, literally, consistently misaddresses points made and it’s not just me, it’s laced throughout the posts - take a read for yourself. Then she her loves to wax on about her higher education & her sophomoric command of the english language - you gotta believe she loves to sit back and bask in her prose whilst (I still giggle about that one because the several usages just did not work except to fill an insatiable ego) the silly myopic followers pay homage in the form of agreement. “oh Donna & Jim, please lead us into the battle against that evil Michael Moore”. Add to it the obvious hatred of MM & the poisonous recipe becomes moorewatch.com. Simple case in point, read her bit on rape & foreclosure THEN listen to the interview between Hannity & Moore - just listen to the words, all of them. How she came up with such an over the top reaction was beyond reason, in my - soon to be ripped to shreds by the regal leaders - opinion.
By the way & to be very, very clear, I do not take the subject of rape lightly whatsoever, so don’t even go there! The reference MM made and, obviously he could have picked a better analogy, did not equate home loss with rape as far as I could hear.
I believe to her idea of “deconstruction” means tear everything down that does not align with her point of view and use only the remaining parts to support said view. Isn’t that how Communism started?
Then her hubby Jim, I have one question - how are the anger management classes coming along? I would encourage you to pay a little moore (LOL) attention to the management sections. I mean, using foul language to emphasize your point? Tisk, tisk. I tell my kids using four letter words is a sign of lazy thinking.
2 final points -
1. I know I said it before but this time I mean it - I won’t be back, don’t need this type of infection in my life.
2. If you have any balls what so ever ... Jim, you’ll leave this post for all to read & maybe learn from - including you two.
Auf Wiedersehen!
1. Whether I do or do not have balls has nothing the FUCK to do with your pathetic attempts at starting shit and trolling. Get over yourself, jackass.
2. Goodbye.
Jesus, that one was particularly speshul.
For someone who self-reputedly has a superior grasp of the English language, JAT sure could use a spell- and grammar-checker.
>>Yeah, sure, no one bothers with them, Cams are shit quality… most folks know that. Yeah… Transformers 2 and a Doc are in the same league. >Are you a pathological liar, or what? Please…
Oh yeah… very exciting a cam has hit the scene:
