I almost hate to post another hate mail, but this one from [email protected] was just too damn good to pass up.

So I was sitting at the computer one night, and I decided to type in ‘Michael Moore’ at Google to see what the wacko’s were saying this time. The link for Moorewatch appeared somewhere in between the KKK site and the site that sold “erotic hambones” (whatever they are). I was certain my venture into LunaticLand would not disappoint.

After skimming the first few lines of your publication, Mr. Lee, I have to say that I was a bit dissatisfied. I was looking forward to some really scathing, fire and brimstone kind of stuff. I was hoping you could set me free from the the spell with which Mr. Moore has me transfixed. You’re on to me buddy: after seeing Bowling for Columbine, I went around chanting “Moore is All Knowing” for three days like a zombie. I also starting believing in all those crazy things he talks about, you know, the really pinko ideas like universal health care, vastly increased wages and diplomacy with nations that could wipe out the entire human race (rather than guns-a-blazin’ stuff that you endorse).  I needed some Fred Phelps insanity, but you’re site couldn’t even break 2.0 on the Hitler scale.

I’ll now give you a second to take the white bed sheet off you’re head/get the secretary out from under your desk so you can read this more easily, and then get back to killing black people/stealing from the poor.  Instead, your site only proves that you are psycho-wannabes.  So much for circumspect analysis of the facts; you’ve decided its more fun to ignore historical and political facts in your ‘articles’, showering dissenters with preposterous, misrepresented facts and arguments and arrogant, degrading and sarcastic insults. I’ve decided, by this point, that there is no reason to argue with you from a logical standpoint, as the pre-Sputnik level of your education attests. Surprisingly enough, there is data on the web (not at the Ann Coulter website, stupid!) gathered by respectable organizations that represent the facts more accurately. Maybe a decent college education might have helped you but hey, who needs college when you’ve got a trust fund!

Michael Moore isn’t always fair or completely accurate in his representation of the facts in movies/letters/books, but his heart is in the right place.  And he blows you guys out of water where the facts are concerned. Moorewatch, right now, is sitting on the fence between reasonable editorializing and the lunatic fringe. Just pick a side already and stop being lame. Don’t worry, you can always listen to Rush Limbaugh tomorrow; he’ll ,make you feel better. Wait! What’s that you say? My unfair generalizations don’t describe you?! They describe a hundred people like you. And if you don’t like the arrogant sarcasm/lack of facts in this letter, leave these things out of your own website. Sit down and eat a hot dog, bitch.

Update: Intrigued by the notion that this guy hit our site through a Google search, I wanted to see just how far up the food chain we were, so I Googled the string Michael Moore.  Surprisingly, we come up second only to MichaelMoore.com.  We even rank higher than Dog Eat Dog Films, Moore’s production company, or Michael Moore’s IMDb page!

One of the reasons Jim and I started this site was specifically so that people who went to Google looking for info on Michael Moore could also find a site that contained arguments refuting his lies and distortions.  It looks like we were successful.

Christ you people really are as thick as pigshit, when i logged on to your site i was the only person insane enough to have clicked on it, you nice little counter informed me of this compare this to the millions of books and videos sold by mike and do you not think it is you doing the lying and misinforming.  Indeed in your first anti moore article on your site there are a number of comments that show up your total ignorance to facts. One, the US should have never backed Stalin in the first place, the point moore is trying to make about Hussien is that he should never have been backed by the US either. The US has a nasty habit of trying to use countries, and then realising that they have just armed a dangerous man nation. Who armed the Taliban? the US and British, and I think that if you looked carefully you would find that the US also backed Fidel Castro early in his campaign to gain control of CUba, Castro even told the US that he was a communist, they just thought he would be another corruptable dictator, who they could use in the same way they had in most other south american states. If you used your brain, moore is telling people that the US government lie to its people and causes almost all of the shit that it winds itself up in. Sadly as a Brit I have to live in the knowledge it is my countries fault that wankers such as yourself walk the earth. If you love the right so much join the Nazi party grab a gun and face the music instead of hiding behind a thin vale of conservatisem SCUM

What is so horrible about what Moore is doing?  And why are you so ignorant as to only see your side, and no other.  I don’t believe everything Michael Moore says, but I don’t discredit all of his work.  It sounds to me like you must be a real closed minded person.  A democracy is about hearing all sides, and you choose to attack one side, and never listen to a word they say. You should rethink your site some. It’s kind of narrow and bull headed.

I’m writing in response to some comments I saw you post on your website MooreWatch.com.  In your posting titled “Columbine Secrets” you say “And he[Moore] definitely doesn’t want to see fewer school shootings, because then he wouldn’t have fresh victims to prostitute for his own monetary gain.” What kind of sick person are you.  Moore made the movie Bowling for Columbine in order to stop violence in this country including the sad instances of school shootings.  The fact that you would claim that anyone would be a proponent of violence for monetary gain is sickening.  The fact of the matter is we do live in a society that is based around fear.  Fear of the unknown, fear of minorities, fear of terrorists who may live next door to you so you better not trust anyone other than Big Brother who will protect you.  I’m not speaking out against gun ownership either.  I personally don’t own a gun or ever will, but does that mean others shouldn’t do it legally? No.  However, you can’t ignore the facts that people who have
guns in there homes are more likely to commit suicide or violence against someone they know.  Anyway, I’ve ventured from my original point.  If you really want to talk about someone using violence for capital gain then why don’t you write about our own president.  To this date roughly 400 troops have died in armed conflict in Iraq.  They’re dying off in order to protect George/Dick’s oil interests.  The fact is Saddam Hussein however bad he was, did not conspire with Osamma bin Laden or Al Qaida.  His secular government in Iraq was against everything bin Laden believed in.  In fact bin Laden spoke out against Hussein as well calling him an infidel . Or what about Bush’s relation to the Saudi royal family.  A connection he keeps with an extremely oppressive regime also for his own oil interests.  He is more likely to these murderers and dictators more then Michael Moore is, and has done so for years.  That however, is an issue I have with something else you wrote and will address that at another time. I think you need to take a moment at look at the facts that are out there before you claim someone is trying to make money off of people dying because they made a movie speaking out AGAINST gun violence.

What is so sad is that this Miller guy actually, honestly, believes this crap.  Seriously, anyone with an 8th grade education and access to Google can refute every point raised here.  This total lack of any critical thinking skills is what people like Michael Moore count on to sell his drivel.

Intelligent Hate Mail

Lately I have been deluged by hate mail from Michael Moore fans who are trying specifically to goad me into publishing their stuff on the site, which of course guarantees that their email goes right into the shitpile.  But every now and then I get a well-reasoned, intelligent email like this one, from Chris T.

Let me begin by saying I am 18 years old and a Michael Moore fan.  I know you have already made judgments.....and isn’t that wrong?  Why should I be judged by what books I read, how I dress, who my friends are?  I’ve also read Radical Son.  I’ve learned that this country was built on radical dissent, not conformity.

Hey, you won’t get any argument from me.  I judge people by their actions and the opinions they hold.

People like Michael Moore are necessary.  They are necessary because they raise alarms.

I’ve got nothing against the raising of alarms.  The purpose of this site is to show that Michael Moore finds it necessary to fabricate the basis for his “alarms,” which should create a doubt in the mind of any thinking person as to their credibility.

Before Michael Moore I didn’t really care about politics.  Since reading “Downsize This” I’ve taken political science classes, applied for the senate page program, and have made plans to run for Precinct Delegate.  Moore’s words sometimes have double meanings, but does that make him evil?  No.

No, it makes him a liar.  I’ve never said that he was evil.

No.  It makes me sad when you call protesters vermin, and call left-wingers monkeys.

I think that there is a distinction to be drawn between a protest and throwing a bucket of shit on a police officer.  I take it you would find it perfectly acceptable for someone to throw a bucket of shit on you because of the way you dress?

If we only had right-wingers, wouldn’t we have a fascist government?  There has been no left-wing version of Nazis.

I’ll cut you some slack here because you’re only 18.  Since Michael Moore has given you a newfound interest in politics you might want to look up Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot, Ceausescu, Castro, Mao Zedong, or any of the other communist dictators who summarily murdered over 100,000,000 people in the name of “social justice.” You might also want to look into the idea that the Nazis were right wing.  Admittedly the Nazis became more right-wing as they evolved, but they grew out of the Social Democrat movement of Europe in the late 1800’s.  (Nazi is an abbreviation for Nationalsozialistiche Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, the National Socialist German Worker’s Party.)

First off, You say that Michael Moore lies, and that his movies were crap, well then your obviously some sort of dumbass. Michael Moore has made strong points towards the things wrong with American society, and the American government. For example, if you notice in bowling for columbine, he shows a timeline of all the super things that the USA has done over time, like give money to the same person who trained terrorists like himself to fly 2 planes into the WTC. Perhaps your just that ignorant, but personally, I think that this is a perfect example of just how dumb the American government has been. You comment on how he’s full of it, but yet, this fact IS UNDENIABLE, and is 100% true, perhaps your just that idiotic, and can’t put 2-and-2 together. Get a life, and get some common sense.

Mike:  First off, it’s been a while since I watched BFC.  Tell me what’s in the “undeniable” timeline and I’ll tell you what the lies are.  Secondly, if you’re going to accuse me of being “dumb,” “idiotic,” and a “dumbass,” you might want to learn the difference between your and you’re.  It’s much easier to take someone seriously when they can exhibit a mastery of fundamental 4th grade English.

First off, I’d like to apologize for my email, and I hope that you can understand that I was angry with the way your website put forth insults to a man which I idolize. Second off, I love debates, and what they stand for, it’s such an exciting way of conversation, (perhaps the reason of my improper use of “fundamental 4th grade English” was because of excitement) and I would be glad to debate Michael’s ideas. I realize that the way he organized his ideas in the film, was so he could make it seem like each bit of information was fed from other events, and this was the wrong way to go about it. You must also understand, that Michael was trying to make a change, wether or not he did it for the Oscar, he did change the way we perceive the events in the United States’ history. I apologize for my hate-mail, but I must also say, I still idolize Mr. Moore.

Response to a Critic

I received the following email from a reader in the UK.  I thought he made some interesting points, so I have responded here, so that others may join in the discussion.

Having now seen the film, it is apparent that your correspondent has misunderstood the message which Mr Moore has attempted to put across.

Fair enough.  Before we begin, allow me to thank you for a civil critique of our site.  Most of the hate mail we get is nothing but a stream of invective, and I appreciate it when I get an intelligent, well-thought-out commentary from someone with a dissenting viewpoint.

Apart from the alleged insensitivity of the NRA in holding rallies in locations where young people had been shot and killed in recent incidents…

The truth is actually quite different.  The meeting in Denver was the NRA’s annual meeting.  It had been planned a significant amount of time in advance, and was required as part of the corporate bylaws of the NRA.  In the wake of the Columbine shootings the events at that meeting were scaled back to the bare minimum.  It is due entirely to the lying, obfuscating, and sheer dishonesty of Moore’s work that you get this impression.  He duped you, Peter, just like he duped so many of the other people who watched his film.

For a website that claims to uncover falsehoods, you certainly seem to revel in them.  Your problems with Michael Moore seem to stem from the fact he has the courage tell it like it is.  Bush did steal the election with the help of his brother Jeb and Catherine Harris, plain and simple.  I’m from New England and I remember seeing Ms. Harris running around New Hampshire stumping for Bush and then she’s the one responsible for declaring him the winner in Florida?  As the the Church Lady would say “isn’t the convenient.” As a veteran with friends still serving and fighting in the military I hate to think they are fighting just to get “W” re-elected and to help make Bush’s campaign contributers richer than they already are.  So, in conclusion, SHAME ON YOU, Moorewatch, SHAME ON YOU!

no i lied! you know what you have no fucking idea what your talking about on these pages and i really think you and who ever else made this website should respect michals freedome of speech and not give him crap for using it, which i noticed your main point against him was about him speaking aginst the government. you have to admit that was great of him to speak his opinion when he won an academy award and yes america did help him make it mainly by messing up. dont get me wrong i totaly support our troops, im against the war, but i support them, i just dont support bush.  and i do love america and i wouldent live anywhere but here but dont you think we should support our troops and have them come home because there fighting a war for reasons that are not good enough. though i admit the people on the othersid have some strong points, i think the antiwar points outwheigh them by a million. oh and about 5 people booed him, the majority of the people are propeace.  i respect your opinion, i just totaly disagree and i think youve got to admit michal moors points are very good. thankyou for taking the time to read this, and hopefully this will inspire you to open your mind.
